For several years The Gateway Pundit has reported on the plight of Sgt. Derrick Miller who sits in prison for life in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Today we are pleased to announce that Sgt. Miller will soon be released from prison!
U.S. Army National Guardsman Sgt. Derrick Miller... from Hagerstown, Maryland, was convicted in July of 2011 for the pre-meditated murder of an Afghan man in 2010.
Sgt. Miller shot and killed an Afghan civilian following the civilian attempting to grab Sgt. Millers weapon during a period of intense questioning. The Afghan civilian was a suspected insurgent that was walking through Sgt. Millers platoon defensive perimeter observing their defensive positions....
One of Maryland’s own!

:) Is that you at the Honfest?
No, hon. Search engine’s best. I already lived that “look” once; no need to go back.
Amen!
The U of Chicago law school is renowned. They really stand behind him.
Thank you, for the link.
And here is Rep. Louie Gohmert’s very interesting interview about his involvement in defending Derrick Miller. He also comments about Mattis, political correctness in the DOD during the Obama administration, and the President’s decision to recognize the Golan Heights as belonging to Israel -18 mins.

Ping to post 110 — Louie Gohmert explains it much better than I could.
Thank You!
Welcome
I figured JAGUSAFR was probably the best source I knew of on FR.
Thank You again JAGUSAFR!
Just funnin’ ya.
Thnks. I listened to the interview.
First, Louie Gohmert is probably one of the top 5 people in Congress.
Second, you will notice that not once did Louis discuss the fact that the witnesses said the defendant straddled the victim, then shot him in the head, aNd said he lied. I killed him. In fact Louis never mentioned the evidence against him once!
Instead Louis talks about the camp, and Obamas rule of engagements, AND EVERY other irrelevant thing other than the evidence in the case. Now Louis is a former prosecutor so he is smart enough to know what is relevant and what is not. He didnt discussThe actual facts of the case because they dont help the defendant. Period. All of us lawyers know not to go where things hurt our case.
This soldier got a break when the board reduced his murder from first degree to second degree, thus making him eligible for parole. He would have been convicted in civilian court as well . You will notice that NO ONE except the non lawyers on FR contend that he is innocent. Neither the army, the appeals court, nor Louis Gohmert say he isnt guilty. They just didnt like the harsh sentence.
The reality is he is guilty. He should thank his lucky stars that he only had to serve 7 years when the normal sentence for non capital second degree murder usually runs around 15.
My pleasure. Now lets pray his spirit has not been crushed or poisoned by this time in prison. Gods in charge.
All it takes is a quick court hearing and/or Trump could give him a complete and full pardon.
Oh, I see; an armchair prosecutor. Where is you evidence that the witness who claimed he straddled the spy was actually telling the truth? In fact, where is your citation for this claim? And what if he did, when they were struggling for the gun? Was the origin of this claim the Afghani who changed his testimony to get a green card, or one of the other soldiers who were threatened by the prosecutors, as Gohmert mentioned, to change their testimony?
Were you there? Were you an eyewitness, or can you produce a credible eyewitness? Or are you just wanting bragging rights here on FR for your dramatic take-down over the Internet of what all the real lawyers and analysts to the actual case, the actual records, the actual testimony and the witnesses have said? Are you aware that some of the coerced men from his unit came forward later and recanted?
Had Gohmert gone into the details of the case on a mass-market radio show, the audience would have tuned out. He fitted his remarks to the audience. You have just now claimed to be a lawyer, so I have not addressed you in those terms heretofore. Are you an Army lawyer, or any kind of military lawyer? Come on, trot out your creds, which I already doubt, since you called this soldier a “dirtbag” from the jump, and the rest of us in support of him “ignorant fools.” Where did you go to law school, pray tell? Where did you find your records of this case, and what are the citations so that the rest of us may see your evidence?
AMEN !!!
I hardly think a 35 year career prosecutor qualifies as armchair. That includes 15 years as an Army Jag officer defending soldiers accused of crimes.
Were done here.
