Lauren Isacksons athletic credentials were dwarfed by those of her teammates. She joined the vaunted UCLA womens soccer program in 2017 alongside members of the U.S. and Canadian national teams elite athletes accustomed to dominating the high school and club circuits, being the best in their leagues, their states, even their entire home countries.
Isacksons biography on the UCLA roster, meanwhile, lists her as an honorable mention all-league selection in 2014 for the West Bay Athletic League in Northern California.
But even that was false, according to federal prosecutors who have implicated Isacksons parents in a broad conspiracy to sneak the children of wealthy and powerful families into top-flight universities they may not have been qualified to attend.

Nobody was named, but when this scandal first broke, it was stated that one person showed up to college with a cast and sling, so was never put on a team. Probably not this girl, but you have to wonder what the rest of the team thought of this girl, who had no idea what she was doing and couldn’t keep up.
Some of the comments here are disgusting. WTH?
Still not sure why this is news.
Rich people buying their kids into college is not new. To be honest it is the norm.
What the heck is this all connected to? A women’s soccer scholarship is weak sauce all things considered.
I think in the old days, mom and dad donated big bucks and the kid got in.
Now they are trying to “legitimize” it via fake SAT scores and fake sports dossiers.
Not a "scholarship" at all...getting in via bribes, cheating, and massive lies. You need to read up on a topic before posting about it.
And again, I have to ask “So what?”
Rich people buying prestige goods (like college degrees).
It used to be private clubs. In my home town, you had to be in the country club to get any of the good contracts, till the non club members just started finding others to do the work. Then the permits got hung up, till someone (who raised me) called the state and had that little mess sorted out.
Buying their kids into to a school is more about connections that used to be had at those private clubs. Forcing your way in (as the lawsuit is trying to do) will not change that. You, or rather your kids, will be on a black list.
Seen it happen all my life. Stopped caring when I discovered that I don’t like any of the connected people. Except for the fact they want to kill us all, I don’t care what they do.
There are a lot worse crimes going unsolved for this media bit.
Calling out frauds is never a bad thing. We have become complacent.
Correct.
Low hanging fruit safely picked.
Same reason cops write traffic tix to rush hour commuters instead of taking down drug deals.
I have read it.
Heck, I had lunch with a lawyer talking about it. Yes, there is fraud, but as my friend said “Once this gets high enough, it will be thrown out of court so fast it will make your head spin. No judge is going to rule against their own interests like this!”
Judges are political creatures. You don’t survive by going after large numbers of the privileged class like this. Heck, I would wager a good number of judges got into law school the same way.
My friend said that the only way anyone goes to jail over this is if they run into a judge that has a personal stake in taking it down. That means one not in the privilege class, and willing to take great professional risks to take it on. Such a judge may exist, but again, there are much worse crimes going on that no one seems to be bothered to prosecute.
What is the point? What is the goal? Rich people paying off to get their kids into a “good” school isn’t it.
Few cops will write a traffic ticket to a local celebrity’s daughter.
That is what being “connected” means.
It has not been a good time for womens sports lately. First boys identifying as girls winning competitions. Now girls getting athletic scholarships on false pretenses.
Does your "friend" also believe that these people are going to be able to buy off the IRS and the DOJ too?
I doubt that you really understand any of this and obviously your lack of a good moral code isn't helping any.
What's the "goal"?
TO PROSECUTE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMMITTED ILLEGAL ACTS!
Though I'm not sure just WHEN all of this type of corruption began on such a scale, yes, there always were ways that rich people got their kids into college...NONE OF WHICH WAS ON THIS SCALE OF ILLEGALITY AND CORRUPTION.
$s that her grandmother, if alive, is considerably over weight. Shes heading in the same direction.
She looks like her father, poor thing and you’re probably correct about her leaning towards corpulence as she grows older.
If you listen carefully, you can hear the fat valve hissing.
so Lauren loses the scholarship,
but stays in school as a PE major.
or not.
just curious
She is NOT a PE major, she's a psych major.
Definitely not guilty
I do care...
