A Missouri county GOP committee disinvited Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) to a dinner event next month, citing his recent vote against President Trumps emergency declaration to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Blunt joined 11 Senate Republicans, and all Democrats, in voting to block the declaration, prompting the Christian County Republican Central Committee to rescind his invitation to the local GOPs Lincoln/Trump Day Dinner, scheduled for April 6 in Ozark.
I am so disappointed in you now that I can hardly speak, Wanda Martens, the party committees events chairwoman, wrote in an email to Blunts office obtained by The Kansas City Star. Why could you not support my president in the emergency declaration? President Trump tried every available means to work the Senate to resolve the border issue and build the much needed wall. He is well within his presidential powers to do this.
Blunt's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Blunt, the fourth-ranking Republican in the Senate, was the only member of GOP leadership to vote for the resolution of disapproval that would block Trump's emergency declaration. The president vetoed the resolution Friday.
The Missouri Republican cited the separation of powers to justify his vote in a radio interview last week.
The last power really left to Congress is the power to control appropriations, the power of the purse, which anybodys ever looked at the constitution has heard that phrase over and over again," he told KCMO. And I think its an important phrase.
Blunt has also warned a future Democratic president could take advantage of the precedent set by the national emergency declaration and take action on issues such as gun control or environmental regulations.

Ha ha!!
Bush League Republicans MUST become extinct before the Republic does.
Good. We need to see more actions like this!!!
Blunt comes up for re-election in 2022. Currently, 69 years old. I don’t think he intends to run.
If a Republican doesnt believe in American citizens voting, them they are of no use at all.
Oh come on, that's a straw argument. Democrats take advantage without needing precedent. Ever hear of Obama and his pen? Nix Blunt, take him down a notch and stop him from siding with Democrats against our Republican president. Needs a reminder as to who put Blunt in office, it wasn't Democrats.
He should be disinvited to his senate seat next election.
They don't care about our safety and security, they don't care about securing America and its borders, the only thing they care about is protecting their power and their money.
Yes, excellent.
[ They don’t care about our safety and security, they don’t care about securing America and its borders, the only thing they care about is protecting their power and their money. ]
Just as long as they get their Uniparty check today, they’re all good. They couldn’t care about the rest of us. They are insulated from the real world.
Folks in Missouri will keep it hot for the piece of crap. I grew up there and we dont like azzholes who go Macain on US. Blunt better stay in DC.
Precedent such as Dred Scott versus Sandford? How about Obergefell versus Hodges?
Those who put evil precedent above Constitutional law are against the Constitution.
GOOD !
F Blunt , what a douche . Primary his ass
Blunt”s disinvitation is fantastic and should apply to all the open border/globalist RINOs.
actually they should all be tarred and feathered for treason against the United States Constitution
Senatorial power is the sweetest. It takes a strong will to walk away from it.
You reap what you sow.
