New Zealand attorney general 'backtracks' on vow to ban semi-automatics......

Attorney General David Parker had told a crowd at a vigil Saturday that a key part of the government's response was to ban semi-automatic weapons, a step further than Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had called for in the wake of the attacks.

But Parker told Radio New Zealand on Saturday that the government has yet to make any decision on what changes to gun ownership policies, if any, would look like.

"We need to ban some semi-automatics, perhaps all of them. Those decisions have yet to be taken, but the prime minister has signaled that we are going to look at that issue.".... as it stands now we have no idea who's buying weapons and where they're keeping them or how many they have in New Zealand.

The minimum legal age to own a firearm in New Zealand is 16, and there is currently no national register of gun owners. All gun owners must be licensed to own and operate a firearm and must pass a background check of criminal and medical records. Registering a purchased firearm, however, is not required in New Zealand.

The guns used in the mosque massacres were obtained legally.

The Second Amendment, is a barrier to this kind of action here, but we need to get a Conservative Majority SCOTUS to make a final ruling on just what the 2A really says.

The Framers would be appalled to learn that 21st century Americans have sunk to such a level, that they would actively seek a ruling from the government on the precise meaning and extent of their God given rights.

It's The People who should be reminding their government what the meaning and extent of those rights are. Not the other way around.

Simply putting the question in their laps invites all manner of disastrous interpretations.

Was the “Australian shooter” born in Australia and grew up there, or was he born and grew up elsewhere?

Had a nice .243 SA given to me...I sold it.

I don't have a dedicated yote rifle....I just use my .308.

Friend has a .220 Swift...that is nice. But those guns are pricey..Besides...I wouldn't use that to deer hunt.

I like the 22-250 round better...

But I'm with you...a bolt action .243 is the way to go...Can be a good deer rifle...Ammo is cheap and easy to find.

Will check that Ruger out...

Thanks!!
