Theresa May has asked MPs to make an "honourable compromise" as she seeks to persuade them to back her Brexit deal at the third time of asking.

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, the prime minister said failure to support the deal would mean "we will not leave the EU for many months, if ever".

Mrs May is expected to bring her withdrawal agreement back to the Commons next week for a third vote.

President Donald Trump on Thursday sharply criticized Britain’s handling of negotiations over leaving the European Union, saying the talks have been bungled and that the debate was dividing the country.

“I’m surprised at how badly it’s all gone from the standpoint of a negotiation,” he said.

I just wish that the Britons would ask DJT to conduct negotiations on their behalf!

The Eurosclerotic Elite would have an aneurysm!

My thoughts exactly. POTUS might have even done it pro bono, just for fun. He loves squeezing the Euros out of the Europeans.

British politicians are as treasonous as our own politicians. They disgust me. They are supposed to represent the people they are elected to serve, not big donors who seem to have far more influence.

Yes they are and, in both cases, the politicians should meet some horrible, lingering, fate for their betrayal. Therese May should suffer a total destruction of her life for her perfidy.

Trump could say either hard Brexit or 100% tarrif on ALL EU goods until hard Brexit is enacted.

It’s called hard-ball.

“Trump could say either hard Brexit or 100% tarrif on ALL EU goods until hard Brexit is enacted.”

Other than being philosophically opposed to Soviet-Union-Lite the US has zero interest in what the Brits do about staying or leaving the EU. It’s a complete don’t-care. As the typical folksie pseudo-southern politician would say, “I don’t have a dog in this fight.”

They are supposed to represent the people they are elected to serve,

Given that the votes in Parliament closely replicate the pattern of voting in the referendum, the argument that this is precisely what they are doing, for better or worse, isn't easily refuted.

It's an illustration of the inevitably messy outcome when you try to graft a device of direct democracy (a referendum) on to a system built on representative democracy.

"honourable compromise"?

Why? England leaves, period. What's with a compromise?

I disagree. Brexit is very much in America’s interest. The EU is getting more and more authoritarian and the migration the EU is forcing on the counties within the EU is fomenting violence and allowing Muslim terrorism & sharia law to take hold & grow. This is an existential threat to the USA.

The only thing May is negotiating is a surrender to Brussels.

Or just proof that it’s easier to bribe and/or blackmail hundreds than persuade millions.
