A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the killing of Francesco Cali, a reputed boss of New York's Gambino crime family who was gunned down in a brazen hit this week, the NYPD said.
Anthony Camello, of Staten Island, was taken into custody in New Jersey, police said. Investigators anticipate returning him to Staten Island where he will face murder charges for Cali, said Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.
...
The sources said the murder wasn't related to the mob. One source described the man in custody as a conspiracy theory type of guy while a second source said he appears a bit off.
...
One theory being looked into is whether the suspect wanted to date one of the mob boss's relatives and Cali told him to back off, the sources said.
hmmmm ..I think this guy might not be too bright!
How'd he make it to 24? Must be the NYC school system.
I duno why in the hell they would charge him. He aint gonna last long enough to matter.
To be a major mob boss, yet gunned down by a local mental deficient, rather than a mob rival. Bad luck.
Hey Tony, your ride is here.
He got the Capo out in the street so he could shoot him, they say or theorize he ran his truck into the boss’ car. He or someone he worked for, figured that out. All is not clear in this case yet, naturally.
Him not too bright? How about Frankie Cali? Some mook rams into your car and you go charging outside for what?
How did Frankie live to be in his 50s?
Frankie shoulda said, "Hey, Vinnie, go hit da mook wit da bat".
The boy is a dead man walking.......if hes lucky the retaliation will just target him and not his family
Criminals killin criminals. I don’t see the problem.
Blood.....lots and lots of blood

NYPost story
Thanks! That was a good article.
Now I’m almost convinced it wasn’t a mob hit.
Calis niece was at the dons mansion at the time of the hit, the sources told The Post and may have been the subject of the dispute.
___________
Hmmmmm ... where's the "hot" neice?
In that moment, he may have handed the murders most incriminating evidence to his own alleged victim, who tossed it into his car.
Crime-scene investigators dusted the license plate, ran the prints recovered from it and got a hit for Comello, whose prints are on file from his application for a rifle permit, the sources said.
Realizing it no longer had a potential well-orchestrated mob assassination on its hands, the FBI has scaled back its role in the case, leaving the NYPD in control, the sources said.
This went from the perfect crime to amateur hour, one law-enforcement source quipped.
Another source noted the idiocy of Comello allegedly handing Cali the number one clue to the murder.

"...... start spreadin' the news, I'm leavin' today"
Makes you wonder who is the somebody who put somebody up to finding this walking cadaver to make the hit?
You're right - he's a dead man.
