A shadowy group trying to overthrow Kim Jong Un allegedly raided a North Korean embassy...
Washington Post ^ | March 15 at 12:39 PM | John Hudson

In broad daylight, masked assailants infiltrated North Korea’s embassy in Madrid, tied up the staff, stole computers and mobile phones, and fled the scene in two luxury vehicles.

The group behind the late February operation is known as Cheollima Civil Defense, a secretive dissident organization committed to overthrowing the Kim dynasty, people familiar with the planning and execution of the mission told The Washington Post.

The group’s alleged role in the attack has not previously been reported, and officials from the governments of North Korea, the United States and Spain declined to comment on it.

The identity of the assailants is a particularly sensitive topic, given the delicate nature of the relationship between Trump and Kim.

According to Spanish media reports, the assailants tied up the embassy staff with rope, put hoods over their heads and asked them questions. They spoke in Korean and appeared to be Asian.

More than an hour into the raid, a woman reportedly escaped, and her screams for help alerted a neighbor, who contacted police. When authorities arrived at the embassy, a man opened the door and told them there was no problem. Moments later, the embassy gates opened, and the assailants dashed out to two embassy cars and sped away, according to local reports. The vehicles were found abandoned on a nearby street.

For a few days now I’ve wondered if Kim’s seeming retreat from diplomatic relations might be related to internal politics. The man might be walking a tightrope more than we realize.

I agree completely with that which you posit in your post. The Military Industrial Complex in NoKo is scared to death that their reign is ending and the only way out is to take out Kim before the party ends. Fold them into the South Koren military and all of the perks and privileges they have enjoyed go bye bye

This is why I laugh when I see the posting about “Kim” threatening to restart his nuclear programs and it comes from South Korea. There are bad guys on both sides who are terrified that a unified Korea upsets and applecart that has been on the road since the 1950’s

Watch and see, China is rippling as well with the burgeoning population with weal;th who grow tired of the old political apparatus

“The man might be walking a tight rope...”

My thoughts exactly.

To wit, here is my take on the situation:

1. The media will not put things into perspective nor will they do some genuine investigation and present the complexities that Kim and Trump face because they are so bent on sabotaging Trump’s efforts. It is in their best interests to do everything in their power to promote dissent among all involved parties;

2. The career intelligence people and bureaucrats in the CIA and US government are too invested in keeping NK as the boogie man and can’t afford for Trump to do something that they have failed to do for the past 50 years. Their egos and fat paychecks are on the line and they will lose their lofty positions of power and influence if Trump succeeds. They will be forever known as failures, liars and con men.

3. Kim faces the same problem with the elites, bureaucrats and generals in his country.

Bottom line: The entrenched elites in both countries don’t want normalization because there will be a hefty price for all of them to pay if Kim and Trump succeed.

JMHO.

CIA implicated in attack on North Korean embassy in Madrid
According to Spanish investigators, two of the men who broke into the diplomatic headquarters have connections to the US intelligence service

Investigators from the Spanish police and National Intelligence Center (CNI) have linked an attack on the North Korean embassy in Madrid on February 22 to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Sources believe the goal of the attack embassy was to get information on the former North Korean ambassador to Spain

At least two of the 10 assailants who broke into the embassy and interrogated diplomatic staff have been identified and have connections to the US intelligence agency. The CIA has denied any involvement but government sources say their response was “unconvincing.”

related. Their out-of-the-blue public statement came the last day of the US/NK summit or the morning after. And may be why Un decided to hop on his train and get going instead of spending the day with the Vietnamese touring around.

*** Surprised the Spanish officials could take time out from digging up Franco to notice... ***

Make a joke about it, but I doubt the chief intelligence agency of the Sovereign Nation of Spain is laughing at the USA acting with impunity in their Country.

Centro Nacional de Inteligencia, CNI) is the Spanish official intelligence agency, acting as both its foreign and domestic intelligence agency.

Funny almost every Country in the world is running this story as presented by the Spanish intelligence agency, with the exception of the USA.

Speaking of funny...do you remember the scene in "Good Morning Vietnam"
where it showed the identical twins going through the news ticker
and scratching out the things that couldn't be read over the radio?

The same thing is happening on a larger scale in America today.
If the MSM doesn't approve of it they don't report it.

Well, the movie was funny, not the results of not reading what had been crossed out.

What Kim does is related to what Xi Jinping tells him to do.

One of the reasons Kim is dragging his feet is that the position he is in is generally one that is ended by death...by old age if one maintains a iron fist and by others if one blinks at the wrong time...he’s fighting for his survival while trying to all his land to start to morph into something more viable.
