NYPD Hate Crimes Unit Investigating Vile Defacing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg Poster in Brooklyn

A subway poster advertising a commemorative book on Ruth Bader Ginsburg was defaced with anti-Semitic and other slurs.

The NYPD's hate crimes unit is investigating slur-ridden "DIE" graffiti scrawled on a Brooklyn subway station poster of Ruth Bader Ginsburg after a rider flagged it on Twitter Tuesday.

"What is going to be done about this?" the rider captioned in her tweet, tagging the mayor's office, the MTA and NYPD among other accounts. She said it was spotted at the Nassau Avenue G train stop.

"DIE" in all capital letters is scrawled in black marker across Ginsburg's forehead on the poster; "JEW" was written over her glasses, followed by another slur and a swastika over her mouth.

In a statement on Wednesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo denounced the graffiti.

"We will not stand by and allow hateful and discriminatory vandalism in New York," he said. "I have directed the New York State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to provide the NYPD with any resources needed to assist in the investigation."

Otto Warmbier, the American student detained by North Korea in 2016, who later died because of his captivity (and is still part of US/DPRK negotiations), was arrested because he “stole” a DPRK/ Kim Jong-un propaganda wall poster.

As you can see, NY City is deep into North Korea territory here.

And recall stories recently, that someone wrote something nasty on a public restroom wall, about someone, such as Ocasio-Cortez?

I don’t like to see this happen, but, is it really a good use of law enforcement resources, to check into bathroom graffiti or defacing a picture in a subway?

Good point. Heck, when you look at how much graffiti there is in some places, police would do nothing else but try to catch graffiti “artists”. Priorities need to be set with law enforcement resources.

Back around 1988, a bitter housing discrimination suit was brought against the city of Yonkers, NY. A Jewish woman claiming to be "housing equality activist" reported to the Yonkers PD someone sprayed swastikas and anti Semitic graffiti on the apartment building she lived in. Sure enough SHE was caught under surveillance doing the vandalism. One of our neighbors at the time, a Black woman who moved from the same block as her, knew her all too well, as a meshugannah. Incidentally, this happened during the Tawana Brawley fiasco.
