Maybe I'm missing something here ...

Aside from any possible financial crimes like tax evasion or money laundering for illegal purposes, how is any of this a crime? Don't these top schools admit large numbers of unqualified students with boring regularity?

Who exactly is the VICTIM of all the crimes alleged here?

If making misrepresentations of yourself is a crime in and of itself (and not doing it for financial gain, but PAYING people to help you do it), then wouldn't dating websites be criminal rackets? And wouldn't every politician be in jail right now?

The universities were victims. How about the legitimate kids whose spots in the schools were taken because Of these crooks.
