Democratic Donors Charged in College Admissions Scam (Almost all of them)
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 3/12/2019 | Mikhael Smits

Several Democratic donors were among those charged Tuesday in a federal crackdown on a nationwide fraudulent college admissions conspiracy.

"Dozens of individuals involved in a nationwide conspiracy that facilitated cheating on college entrance exams and the admission of students to elite universities as purported athletic recruits," according to the Department of Justice. Documents unsealed Tuesday in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts show fraud extending to Yale, Georgetown, and other American universities.

.....Of the 50 people charged in the college scandal, the Washington Free Beacon found only one gave consistently to Republican candidates. Mossimo G. Giannulli, founder of the clothing company Mossimo, Inc., is married to actress Lori Loughlin. He and his wife gave over $500,000 to secure admission to USC for his two daughters via the crew team. Neither daughter rows. He supported Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) in 2016, and Romney and John Boehner before that. He has also donated to Democrats.

Fr. Guido Sarducci was on the right track. 10 minutes watching PMSNBC or CNN will teach you the same things you remember 10 years after attending a “justice” university. And it’s free, except for loss of IQ points.

I thought that buying your children’s way into elite universities is how rich people always did it,

Better check your geography, Frank.
The "Women of Troy" train at the USC Boathouse which is located at the Port of Los Angeles, near San Pedro, just a short, 20-minute drive from USC. The USC Boathouse is located just steps from the water and contains 10 racing eights, five fours, six pairs and several singles.
Maybe you are confusing Phoenix and Los Angeles. Happens all the time.

It may not be the most picturesque place to row, but it IS water.

Exactly, and nobody should kid themselves that rich Republicans don’t do the same thing.

You need to get out more.

USC is not in the desert by any measure.

It is news to high school students and their parents. Earlier this month my daughter received her college acceptance notices. She worked hard for her good grades.

It is new to us to discover how others are corrupting the process.

This whole ‘scandal’ must be a cover up for something BIG!

Is this the same FBI that let the kid in Florida shoot up a school, couple of ‘Russians’ mess up the Boston Marathon?

Wonder when a certain Massachusetts Senator will get charged with defrauding the Government and stealing a College education? Must have been some ‘Mail Fraud’ etal going on there.

Many of the principals in this care are cooperating and ratting out everybody they can think of. It's high enough priority that it looks like a lot of very big people will be doing some time. If anybody wants to know how this process works, read Orange is the New Black, the autobiographical story of what happened to a white upper middle class woman who was a money runner for a drug cartel. In short, she was able to plead a serious felony down to a 15 month sentence in a minimum security camp. To do it she had to inform on everybody she knew or knew of. Lots of that is likely to happen here. Start the popcorn!

Southern California is a Mediterranean climate, not a desert. Wetter and more moderate than the desert.

Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas are in the desert.

I've lived all four places and southern California is no desert.

What the **** do you need a rowing team for at USC, anyway?

I read a book about the 1980 US Olympic heavy eight. To fill out the story, the author goes into rowing history.

To wit, President Woodrow Wilson, of Princeton at the time, invited Andrew Carnegie for some honor, the motive being to hit him up for an endowment for a law school.

Carnegie, when the subject was broached, responded that the study of law wasn't best use of young men's time or energy, and that rowing was a better endeavor.

Carnegie "bought" Princeton a lake for rowing, basically had a dam built to form a lake, iirc.

Princeton still doesn't have a law school.

“It is news to high school students and their parents.”

I guess. The fakestream media has officially spent more hours on this story than the massive and ongoing conspiracy to overthrow President Trump. Priorities I guess.

He supported Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) in 2016, and Romney and John Boehner before that.

So in summary - he still supported Democrats!!

Some of the kids didn't want to go to any of the elite colleges to learn anything or to prepare for any meaningful career. Their social media postings make clear that they hate 'school', but they did want to check out the party scene.

Apparently, to keep the kid from flunking out, the elite, money-galore parents would have to pay for passing grades for each quiz, midterm or final exam for as many semesters as their child wanted to continue partying.

If you analyze this....what they were paying for, was to get their marginally-prepared kid, into a 5-star school, bypassing every gate possible, and then getting them into the sports program, which meant you had extra tutor help and lower expectations by professors.

An example...you are about to wrap up high school while your dad pulls in $5-million a year. High expectations. The whole last three years, zero effort. Parents want you to go onto USC. Your grades marginally work for entry. But you get a water-polo scholarship (even though you can’t swim). You show up, and they introduce you to the guy who is ensuring the professors go easy on you. Four years of this, and you get a degree from the college. You can marginally cut it.

Not to say it happened, but I wonder about AOC, and if her parents did the same thing with her...herding her into an economics degree, and making sure the college ‘gifted’ her the degree in the end. I’d even go back and wonder this about George Bush.
