WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is setting a high bar for impeachment of President Donald Trump, saying he is “just not worth it” even as some on her left flank clamor to start proceedings.
Pelosi said in an interview with The Washington Post that “I’m not for impeachment” of Trump.
“Unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country,” she said.
While she has made similar comments before, Pelosi is making clear to her caucus and to voters that Democrats will not move forward quickly with trying to remove Trump from office. And it’s a departure from her previous comments that Democrats are waiting on special counsel Robert Mueller to lay out findings from his Russia investigation before considering impeachment.

She refused calls when she first held the speaker’s gavel, in 2007, to start impeachment proceedings against George W. Bush. Having been a member of Congress during President Bill Clinton’s impeachment, she saw the way the public turned on Republicans and helped Clinton win a second term.
Clinton had already won his second term when he was impeached.
Let’s see what she says after the re-elect.
Not to mention that little guy from Texas that helped him out.

She saw that Trump was polling better than Obama did at this point in the first term.
Also she’s trying to appear moderate in comparison to the AOCSandersjihadi wing of her Party.
Didn’t hurt Democrats in the 70s.
Nancy doesn’t need an impeachment to divide America, they accomplished that years ago.
I think she means it because she realizes they have absolutely NOTHING on Trump and they never will find anything on him. He’s not an idiot, does she honestly think he would have ran for POTUS if he had any kind of major dirt? The Clinton criminal cartel were paying millions for any kind of dirt on Trump. They got so desperate they ended up paying for a fake dossier to spy on him and STILL they found nothing. I LOVE it because it drives the left more and more insane!
But didn’t the republican attacks start before the second term?
Most of the country didn’t see his fooling around and lying under oath as a big deal in their context and it did hurt us going into the ‘96 election.
About a week ago, didn’t Trump threaten to release some very embarrassing information re the other party?

Clinton was impeached for lying while on the witness stand. The Democrats forgave tht action. Will they now forgive Cohen?
They managed to get Nixon because they were able to drive the approval numbers in his OWN party down into the 20’s.
The most they have been able to do to Trump is to peel away some suburban women who got their panties in a twist over his tweets.
As his support from Republican voters remained rock solid this was a high-speed bullet train to nowhere.

Few Rs have honor, but more than dems.
That’s just not setting the bar very high.
So what is behind this apparent reversal? It is not like wasting the taxpayer's money has ever stopped a 'rat from pursuing something they wanted... I'll bet it is a combination of several factors.
First, I'm guessing they've done some polling/focus groups. They probably realize several things: dang, President Trump's economy is working, and in spite of their and their propaganda arm the MSM's best efforts, he is still a reasonably popular President. While going after him might satisfy their base, it would fall flat or worse with the middle that actually is seeing things improve for them.
Two, related, they can count (some of them apparently just barely) and realize they don't have the votes to make it happen. While wasting the time/money is no impediment, burning political capital is, particularly because of the next issue.
Three, I think crazy Aunt Nancy actually has her hands full with the more extreme members of her party. She's fighting internal battles that are serious enough they have actually distracted her from her agenda. The 'rats have long leaned left and supported un-American and anti-America policies. Now there's a whole very vocal segment of the party that is dropping all the facades. They openly proclaim to be socialist, support leftist even fascist policies and tactics to impose their socialist agenda.
Well Nancy, I'm playing the worlds saddest song on the worlds smallest violin for you. You'll get no sympathy, no help here. You promoted this {excrement} and now you're losing control. Maybe it's about time the gloves come off and we defeat your leftist agenda roundly and soundly.

The Dems would still be pushing for impeachment if they believed that it was a winning issue.
