Why bother? Just to show the world it’s bad there. It would be like Bush being nice to the lefties out there. Lotta good it did him.
Well they certainly can’t function or live in these blackouts without basic water, food, electricity and communications all down in Venezuela..
BTW the first thing nations do before war is withdraw their Embassies....we should watch if others follow suite...though with the blackout continuing they may just the same.
Removal of the Embassy is acknowledgement that there is presently no Venezuela.
Because nobody sane wants another Iran hostage affair when things finally go South for Venezuela?
Seriously, you have to be Carter-level-stupid to see that Venezuela is in this bad a state and think “Hey, let’s leave all these US citizens there to be used as hostages” - especially since we’ve already gone through the same thing in the 1970s. Get them the hell out of there, then we don’t have to resort to military or covert action to get them out after things go to hell. Instead, our policy option can be, “Sit back with popcorn and watch the show.”
One way to rule is by administrating scarcity and use the security forces against the unruly. It can work for some time, but not for forever.
