The AC-130J Ghostrider gunship is officially the most lethal aircraft in Air Force Special Operations Commands inventory.
Close air support for Americas elite warriors dramatically improved this month when the improved gunship and its Precision Strike Package was unveiled Wednesday at Bob Skies Airport in Crestview, Florida.
Special Forces Operators were previously assisted by the Block 20 version.
The AC-130J Block 30 is our most lethal aircraft in the AFSOC inventory...

Lets see Antifa deal with this gunship when the Civil War starts.
This article made me realize something. I have not seen one in years.
For maybe 20 years I would regularly hear an AC-130 fly around this area. It would arrive around dusk and go around for a while then go away.
I live NE of Eglin and NW of Tyndall but never see planes from either one. I guess I am just not in their flying areas. The Specters were different tho and every now and then I would see one in the daytime. Took lots of photos.
I’ve only seen videos and pics of them and they’re impressive in those, must be really impressive in person.
You really can’t tell too much about them except you can see the guns sticking out the left side. Using binoculars of course there is much more detail.
I would like to see them firing which would be something else.
You said a mouthful of truth.
And as much as many here and myself may admire amazing military hardware, “greater” lethal capability is a sobering pause for thought.
Especially since our nation’s defenders are sent all too often to kill people and break things that do not pose a clear direct threat to our nation’s security.
Doesn’t it seem that after we have repeatedly invaded numerous sovereign nation’s airspace with drones, AC-130’s, or cruise missiles to kill bad guys and break things, we’ve only made things worse?
Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan, come to mind.
Weird how we arm & fund Saudi Arabia to spread radical Islam in nation’s we war against...
Weren’t we warned about what a bad idea foreign entanglements are?
RE: “ The day of SpecOps is drawing to a close.
The theory is wrong.
If they cant beat the Taliban, they cant beat anybody. We need an army and a navy that can beat China in a stand up fight, so we dont have to have one.”
Is it still called Puff, the Magic Dragon?
Active duty ping.
Outline.com. Nicely done.
I know a retired Air Force Officer who was a the weapons officer on a “Puff the Magic Dragon” (the grandfather of the Ghostrider. He said that when you fired the 105 cannon the whole plane moved 8 feet sideways. He said that no matter how many times they fired the cannon, he always had an immediate feeling of “ohh that is not natural”; which was immediately followed up with a full face grin.
Nice, Thanks!
