You’re right of course - within a few years, it will encompass everything from speeding tickets to neighbors’ complaints about noise. They’re going to push it to the max.
We already have Red Flag Laws that take away an individual’s Right to Bear Arms. Those Laws are called Felonies.
You even get a Fair Trial where you have to be PROVEN GUILTY by a Jury of your Peers. You know, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.
I’m sure that’s what Linseed was talking about, right?
I don’t think that applies.

We need Red Politician Laws - one proposal/vote for some commie idea, and THEY lose their rights to firearms.
2nd time, arrest, trial and GITMO.
This should be done using probable cause, a warrant, and then a trial as is guaranteed under our constitution.
These laws are just a way to stomp on people’s rights without a right to confront accusers.

All they need is the door to open just a bit. Those deemed mentally unstable will be all of us who own guns as soon as the bill is signed into law
I probably was wrong to dismiss your “Prior restraint?” post as I did.
I looked it up and initially thought it referred to restraint of speech or publishing, etc., etc.
Apparently, “Prior restraint” has much broader implications.
Consider this excerpt FRom an Ammoland opinion piece:
“Red Flag laws are unconstitutional ‘prior restraint’ laws that violate our basic civil rights. What’s particularly alarming is that to take away a person’s Second Amendment rights, such laws violate the protections found in the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution! And all of that based on an unnamed person’s secret allegation that someone else “might” do something dangerous to themselves or others in the future.
“Laws are only supposed to authorize the State to apprehend and punish those who have committed an illegal act, not those who might, based on unsubstantiated allegations.”

I was persuaded long before I read this article that “Red Flag” laws are manifestly unconstitutional. I just could not pinpoint the legal reasons.
I hope and pray that someone who is affected by a “Red Flag” prosecution has the financial wherewithal to take it to the Supreme Court. They will need some REALLY DEEP pockets! Or, a gun rights group with a large budget for pro bono work.
Until SCOTUS rules that “Red Flag” are unconstitutional, EVERY American gun owner is at risk of having his/her weapons seized on the basis of an unsubstantiated allegation.
We are on very dangerous Constitutional ground here!

Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont have adopted variations. California, Connecticut, Indiana, Oregon and Washington already had similar laws.
ALL LOCAL GUN LAWS should be declared unconstitutional.
