Sen. Martha McSally, the first female fighter pilot to fly in combat, said Wednesday that she was raped in the Air Force by a superior officer.
The Arizona Republican, a 26-year military veteran, made the disclosure at a Senate hearing on the armed services' efforts to prevent sexual assaults and improve the response when they occur.
McSally said she did not report being sexually assaulted because she did not trust the system, and she said she was ashamed and confused. McSally did not name the officer who she says raped her.
"I stayed silent for many years, but later in my career, as the military grappled with the scandals, and their wholly inadequate responses, I felt the need to let some people know I too was a survivor," she said,

Names, or it didn’t happen.

Is this her re-election strategy?
Me-too?
She had an amazing and honorable career. She has no reason to lie about anything.
She’s a politician. She has every reason to lie about everything.
Didnt know AF used tail hooks.
Bullshit, In office for 2 months, and already in with the me-too crowd. Good job Arizona
It is sad that in this day and age the democrats make up 99% of this stuff. I agree that without names- It did not happen.
The first time I scanned your comment I saw "re-entry" strategy not "re-election". Whew...
+1
Naming the suspect is also difficult. It's always been that way, and the rapists rely on that.
Liberals, RINO’s and gutless conservative politicians can delude themselves till the cows come home but the sexual powers of women vs the barely controllable and many times “uncontrollable” testosterone induced impulses of men are not and never will be subject to control by words on paper aka “legislation”.
The only answer is “separation”. Meanwhile, we have 2 billion dollar ships running into each other because of the games politicians play.

Knowing how things worked back then, I’m rather sure that Sen. McSally is telling the truth. And perhaps she doesn’t want to name names without proof.
But here’s the thing. By not naming names, McSally has just smeared every superior officer who had ever worked with her.
Never met an A-10 pilot who liked or respected her.
Wouldn’t bet any money on her honesty.
There is not one good reason to believe her, given all the incentives out there to create false stories of this nature.
This whole “I get to play victim but won’t say who and/or haven’t a shred of evidence to prove anything” bit is already worn out beyond repair.
Sorry but if shes not willing to name her rapist, then she has no proof she was raped. If she, as a US Senator, does not have the courage to name her attacker, then she either has no business being a Senator or it didnt happen. In which case she has no business being a US Senator.
So she’s supposed to be tough enough to be a leader in the military, and somebody forcibly rapes her, and she doesn’t have enough backbone the fight back right then, or in court? I guarantee this is another one of those she got really drunk and regrets doinking her boss “rapes”.
And I don’t buy this she doesn’t believe the system would support her BS. This is the same woman who filed a lawsuit against the Air Force for making her wear a head rag in Saudi Arabia. She’s not bashful about going up against the power structure. Total BS
It’s amazing the advantages your career gets by doinking your boss.
Good point. Name the perp, or STFU.
