A Philadelphia man showed no emotion as a jury convicted him of fatally stabbing his pregnant girlfriend and killing their unborn child during a brutal attack inside the womans Cheltenham apartment. Tristian Jones, 36, of the 900 block of East Johnson Street, was convicted on Tuesday in Montgomery County Court of charges of first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child ---SNIP--- Assistant District Attorney Kristen Kemp argued for the consecutive life prison terms against Jones, suggesting such a sentence would be a symbolic gesture for the two precious lives that were lost. We did not just have one life that was brutally taken by the defendant. We have two,

Man convicted of killing Cheltenham girlfriend and unborn child; judge imposes two life prison terms
Why is this a double murder?
I thought it would be single murder plus practicing medicine without a license...
Under the new Democrat laws this is no longer a murder.
So, here we have it.
A case to be taken to the Supreme Court to determine when life begins must be carried forward by the right to life advocates.
I hope your right but hasn't this been argued in lower courts before?
Sounds like an Undocumented Abortion that had severe complications for the Mother. Why was he even Charged??
Well, murder is murder, except when a mother chooses to kill, then all bets are off.
He chose the wrong State. He should have double murdered in NY.
If this happened in NY, it would be one murder. Killing unborn children is sanctioned by the state
While here in DC, a guy who raped and murdered a 14 year old got out of prison a few days ago after serving NINE years.
He was convicted of 2nd degree murder using DNA, pleaded no contest, got 15 years, out in 9 for good behavior.
How is that possible ?
He should have gotten the death penalty.
How can this be? Democrats favor murdering children in, and now out, of the womb?
Yes, there are states that would have treated him better for this. I am very anxious to see how these types of cases actually play out in NY, and how the state courts will rule. For example, in this case, if in NY, could he appeal for having the baby’s murder overturned?
Perp pleaded 10 years after crime. State case was light on evidence, and prosecutors went for a no contest 2nd degree murder.
When you think about it, there are only two answers: at birth or at conception.
We know that that the baby is alive at the end of pregnancy; just ask any pregnant woman whose baby kicks and moves around and sometimes you can even see where a foot is pushing against her belly. :) The little guy can’t wait to come out and begin his journey!
So that leaves conception. Yes, at first it is quite small and unrecognizable, but it will grow. Its is imbued with a soul.
To claim otherwise, that life begins at 3 months or whatever, makes no common sense. It is an arbitrary number assigned to the baby for the purpose of providing ease and convenience to the mother or father. There are men who talk their girlfriends into having an abortion; that happened to my sister. Then, after they got married, she had an incredibly difficult time getting pregnant, suffered a miscarriage, then her youngest died of cancer at 9.
She could have had a large family, but instead has only her oldest, who bears the scars of losing his brother and mother; my sister was so focused on taking care of her youngest that she neglected her oldest.
And it continues: when I went to Chicago for my father’s funeral, we visited the aquarium for an IMAX movie. They handed out 3-D glasses. They accidentally gave us one extra; her oldest said, “Cool! Can I have it?”
My sister said, “No, these are for James.” Jack’s face (her oldest) totally crumpled. He was hurt and felt ignored. I felt like shaking her and saying, “James is DEAD. He can’t wear these glasses now. You should have seem the look on Jack’s face.”
As she was saying it, she was realizing what she had done, but it was too late.
After his brother passed away, Jack went from being a straight-A student to having serious trouble in school. He’s now into drugs and rap (rap isn’t by itself a bad thing, but there are some some songs that glorify violence and murder and others that objectify women. The “creme de la creme” does both! Pure genius!/. It’s one of the most sexist forms of music there is).
SMG fan, ping to new tagline. :)
Remember the original pro abortion arguments used to reference viability outside the womb but all the medical advances killed that argument.
On reflection, I think I got it backwards. It is the pro choice types that should contest the conviction because if there was no live child, there was no murder. The conviction sets a precedent that can be used against an abortionist.
Precedents are bad news for lawyers defending an abortionist
As to other cases, I have no clue
I am not a lawyer and have never played one on TV

Yes, that 3-D imaging? That is incredible.
