Popular Defiance Will Kneecap Gun Laws in New Mexico, As It Has in Other States
Reason ^ | 3/4/2019 | J.D. Tuccille

New Mexico is the battleground for the latest confrontation between politicians determined to impose legal restrictions on the right to acquire and own the means of self-defense and people unwilling to obey such laws. The state's governor is publicly feuding with county-level officials who, responding to grassroots anger at the proposed gun measures, vow noncompliance if they become law.

The evidence from similar spats in other states suggests that government officials are once again poised to have their impotence demonstrated by people eager to disobey dictates from above.

Mandatory background checks for most gun transfers, court-ordered seizures of firearms, and the denial of self-defense rights to those convicted of domestic violence offenses feature in the bills moving through the state legislature. The measure requiring background checks for all gun transfers, except between close family members and cops, seems to have excited the greatest opposition...Confrontations of this sort in other states—including Colorado, Washington, and even New York—resulted in the kneecapping of intrusive firearms restrictions. And comprehensive background check (CBC) laws in Colorado, Delaware, and Washington produced an increase in such checks only in Delaware, researchers from the University of California-Davis reported in a study published in 2017 in Injury Prevention. "One plausible explanation for our findings is low compliance in our study states," the researchers wrote

These liberals are moving fast. Here in Colorado they are passing a law that basically says that if anyone deems you a threat to society or yourself, they can take all your firearms without any due process. Some sheriffs are bulking, but far to few.

true, most Americans will simply refuse to comply with blatantly illegal (and immoral) “laws” like these

but they’ll still cause some bad moments for some good people

I’d also suggest that 2A supporters bulk up their stashes.

“I will not comply” is the rallying cry in Maryland where the mental defectives in the Maryland General Asylum are ramming through something like 19 new gun laws at the same time, most or all of which are blatantly unconstitutional.

Defiance?

They have yet to meet true defiance - when the bullets begin flying.

A recent study done in Germany - a country with strict gun laws - suggested that only 25% of all the guns in civilian hands are registered. Three quarters of the guns are: undocumented.

Resistance, even passive resistance by not turning in the firearms that you bought at a time before the gun laws were changed by the politicians, is a hard choice for honest citizens. The gun law change makes a criminal out of otherwise honest citizens who do not comply. As we try to live our lives within the law, most will give in as we can’t risk prosecution that will cause loss of our jobs, freedom or reputations. If you do try to keep your guns and get caught, you have to hope you get a jury that knows about a jury’s ability to vote not guilty—jury nullification.

That is exactly what I’ve been doing for some time now. You’d be surprised to know how many free guns can be found for the taking at the bottom of most local lakes and ponds.

Same problems here in Nevada. Democrat Legislature is running roughshod over the citizens who are not causing any problems. Already Elko & Pershing County sheriffs have said they won’t arrest citizens who are not causing a problem & they won’t go against the 2nd Amendment. Only 17 counties in Nevada. Clark is the most infected with illegal invaders.

—I am disappointed that a “sanctuary county” movement hasn’t started in Nevada—nest week am going to the local gunshop and see what I can do about starting it—

Sanctuary Counties and States for gun owners. Why not? If it's okay for some states, cities and counties to break Federal Law and get away with it, then how can any Federal Law be enforceable?

Contact your county Sheriff, and your
county commissioners. Here in New Mexico,
we rang the phone off the hooks. There
were massive displays of protest at
county commissioners’ meetings.
The Sheriff’s know the proposed
legislation is either unconstitutional,
or unenforceable in most cases.

You should thank your lucky stars you are not in Oregon. It is ruled by Portland. Most of the rest of the state is conservative except for the college towns. And we suffer under the corrupt vote by mail system.

We are in the process of trying to find a good place to retire in peace. We must now push our schedule to now instead of a little later in life.

We got slapped with a san francisco style statewide rent control bill signed into law.

There are 8 to 10 anti 2nd amendment bills in progress with a super majority in both houses. The governor is a proud bi sexual marxist freak.

The only republican to hold state office, SOS Denise Richardson has died.Guess who gets to appoint the successor.

Any recommendations on where a decent conservative place to live is appreciated. We are not liberals or progressives. Or parasites.

The change in the last 2 months is staggering. It appears that everywhere the progressive have taken over, they are pushing confiscation, registration and wholesale anti 2nd amendment destruction.
