“I haven’t decided anything yet,” Cuban told the Daily News. “We’ll see what happens. It all comes down to how things play out. It’s not something I feel like I have to do. ... But it’s something that if circumstances were right I would do.”
Cuban criticized the Democratic party for what he sees as a group that’s more focused on appealing to its base than independents and Republicans.
“If you look at the Democrats right now, there’s like a democratic gravity that pulls all the candidates to the same point,” Cuban said. “And it’s very difficult to show leadership in a situation like that because you can’t truly lead if you have to find an equilibrium between being a true leader for the people of your country vs. getting elected in your primary.
“None of those things are conducive to out-and-out leading the country.”

Yes that’s why he would have no chance in the Dem nomination contest. But as an independent, I don’t think that’s a deal breaker.

I think his business savy is a little over-stated. His earlier companies did well and all but he got rich because Yahoo bought his webcasting company for $5.7 Billion just before the dot-com crash.

For ads against Cuban, I would just play video clips of Cuban making his predictions about what would happen if Trump won. “In the event Donald wins, there is no doubt in my mind the market tanks,” Cuban said. He also said that if Trump were to win, he would put a hedge on that is worth “more than 100% of his equity position. I doubt that he did.

Cuban would have zero chance vs Trump in Republican primaries.
Polling will tell him that.
There isn’t any point in considering people who are obviously not leaders for the position of president.
No matter what he calls himself, he is still a liberal POS.
If he runs he may pull votes from Party for Socialism and Liberation members who believe he’s somehow related to Castro.
Cuban appeared at a Hillary rally in Pittsburgh in 2016 and endorsed her.
But if he ran as an Independent with Republican platformshe could pull votes away from Trump...

A smart guy and a pragmatist more than a conservative or liberal. He would be preferable to any of the currently announced candidates in the Democrat Party field, BUT ...
The way the electoral college works, he would be 2020’s Ross Perot. A well-financed third party candidate that draws more than a few percent of the popular vote practically assures the victory of the major party candidate who is less alike to the other two.
In Ross Perot’s case, the entry of another Texan with an oil industry background who sounded conservative and populist on a lot of issues assured Bill Clinton’s victory in 1992.
The entry of Cuban, a self-made billionaire and Washington outsider, would practically assure the election of whatever left wing democrat was nominated in 2020.
