Rand Paul to oppose Trump's emergency declaration, giving resolution votes needed to pass

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky says he will back a resolution that blocks President Trump’s declaration of an emergency at the southern U.S. border, giving it the votes needed to pass but not enough to turn back a presidential veto.

Mr. Paul, a Republican, announced his decision during a Saturday speech at Western Kentucky University, according to the Bowling Green Daily News.

“I can’t vote to give the president the power to spend money that hasn’t been appropriated by Congress,” Mr. Paul said. “We may want more money for border security, but Congress didn’t authorize it. If we take away those checks and balances, it’s a dangerous thing.”

Just posturing at this point. Let’s see who ponies up to override Trump’s veto, that’s where the consequences lie.

Of course it’s dangerous. That’s why we have an EMERGENCY.

The Republic has been overtaken by the same profoundly evil, wealthy-beyond-imagination, global infrastructure that has ruled this world for centuries.

Now you can be principally correct, Rand, but in doing so, you will lose the Republic.

I have come to believe that there are certain real emergencies that do call for choosing survival over principle.

This Presidential action is but a mere drop in the bucket of what would actually be required to restore the Republic.

Sadly, “patriots” like Rand chose his principles over his children’s survival.

Oh, and by the way, the Constitution was intended ONLY for a deeply religious and moral people.

Pretending you can apply those checks and balances NOW in the face of a DIRE EMERGENCY threatening the future of our country is sheer folly.

Paul’s gripe is with the law, not POTUS use of it.
And he knows his vote will not decide the course of events.

This Emergency declaration will be executed.

Congress has the power to stop it, but will choose not to do so.

“This Emergency declaration will be executed.”

You don’t think it will be stalled in the courts?

Rand is an open borders libertarian. He doesn’t care how many Americans are killed by illegals.

Drugs. Ms13. Crime. Cartels. Human trafficking. Death.

Exactly! And I'll add the billions of taxpayer dollars illegal aliens are costing us every year.

See my #25.

He has the power under Article II, without regard to what Congress has granted.

Section 4
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Let the pr*&k explain this section of the US Constitution.

I’m on Team Constitution.

The question is is what's happening at the border constitute an emergency or not. The BS about moving money around is after the fact. Congress grated the president the certain authorities during an emergency, and this is one of them. The fact is we are being invaded and it is costing us billions, not to mention lower wages and the economic cost to services like education and health care. It is an emergency, and that is the only question before congress. If they don't like the law as written, change it, but don't use moving money around as an excuse to vote this is not an emergency.

The Rats and the Supremes shredded the constitution long ago. Do you think for a microsecond that a Dem president would hesitate doing what Trump is doing and that any Democrat congressmen would oppose him?

We’re in a war with the Rats and are losing our country and better stop worrying whether we put the fork on the right side of the dish.

I don’t remember congress approving all that cash that Obama handed over to the mullahs, and that was without even declaring an emergency.

Some people are so easily persuaded with false and misleading pronouncements. That’s why politicians do them and Rand Paul is a master of such doubletalk.

Stupid Republicans strike again. They insist on playing by the rules that the other side trashed long ago. Get real, idiot.
