BREAKING: Roundup found in beer & wine samples (See the brands)
National Addiction News ^ | 2/26/19 | National Addiction News

We all know that alcoholic drinks are not a health food – and alcohol itself is linked to cancer. But, these new findings are just further evidence that this hazardous weed killer is ending up in almost everything that we eat and drink. How much weed killer are we each eating every day?

Breaking new tests conducted by the consumer interest group U.S. PIRG finds that many popular beer and wine brands are contaminated with – glyphosate (the main ingredient in Roundup).

The quite Leftist Lib "science in the public indignation" non profit lobbying group-- the Environmental Working Group or EWG sets a cut point of 160 parts per billion of any considered toxic chemical or byproduct for their listing as "toxic". This posting is about beer and wine (cheap and not so cheap brands) having 31 Parts per Billion of glyophosphate (and/or inert elements of roundup, and generic glyophosphate) weed killer. That's NOT 160 parts per billion, but 31 parts per billion. Actually both amounts are truly miniscule-- essentially TRACE amounts found in a selective sampling. So- what is a Part Per Billion? Parts per MILLION for example can be expressed as milligrams per liter(mg/L). This is one thousandth of a gram per Liter of water. This measurement is the mass of a chemical or contaminant per unit volume of water. A Part per Billion is one Thousandth of a Thousandth of a gram (one thousandth of a milligram) per liter ...and is Called a Micro-gram. One microgram per Liter is One Part Per Billion parts of water. To visualize this-- here's some analogies about one Part per Million (not billion, but million)--- One PPM is like: • one inch in 16 miles, • one second in 11.5 days • one minute in two years, or • one car in bumper-to-bumper traffic from Cleveland to San Francisco. So what about a Part Per Billion-- here's the metric math summarized: • 1 ppm = 1 mg/L = 1/1 million = 0.000001 • 1 ppb = 1 μg/L = 1/1 billion = 0.000000001 A Part per Billion in a bulk amount of wine would be LIKE: A DROP of ink in the largest tanker truck (like those used to haul gasoline) FULL of the Wine. A Drop of ink in a whole tanker full-- roughly 11,000 gallons of Wine. (That is a whole LOT of Bottles to be consumed to "accumulate" one part per Billion. Bottom line- this is a specious article, put out by libs, and hopefully not posted by a FReeper who doesn't know this. The PPB is used to "enhance" a generally false claim-- a "woo woo" factor of insignificant quantities as "detectable" -and by WHAT means detected? It is important to know the difference between ppm and ppb. As this difference is often used by libs/whackos to make a false claim or point. The use of DDT to de-louse the poor post WWII escapees from the Nazis--- was extremely effective in removing insect borne viruses and infections-- saving MILLIONS of lives-- but environmentalists said it caused softening of bird eggs. ==so, they BAN it. Only the UN is STILL able to use it in the world--- how about that? It prevents malaria spread by mosquitoes.

See my later post on just what a part per billion is... and test your estimated lifetime consumption of just one brand of so called contaminated beverage against that. This article is specious in the extreme.

You’ve got it Code Toad! See my earlier post just now on what a ppb actually is,and what cut points the whackiets enviro nuts consider “health worthy of concern”. It’s not 25 ppb.

Yes! With pics!

I made it once without the Thyme and Rosemary. Personally, I think either use that sparingly or not at all, seemed to make a little bit bitter taste but that is up to you.

You may be entitled to a large cash settlement if you drank any of these beers.

I'll have a talk with my attorneys, the Law Offices of Shyster, Ripov, Gypsum and DeFraud.

In fact, Roundup is used on about 80% of all the crops grown in the US and is responsible for the incredible productivity of our farms.

Anything that sustains Western civilization is evil and must be destroyed.

Per the super bowl budweiser ad against corn based ethanol and fructose syrup-— we are burning ethanol (which is a Filthy dirty fuel, not non-polluting at all) made from corn, grown with petroleum derived fertilizer— saving zero energy (it costs a lot to make the ethanol).

The ad was 3% beer ethanol vs. ethanol in our gas and 100 proof corn whiskey.... that is— the battle of the lobbyists.

All along the “fuel additive” that is extremely cheaper to make energy wise-— is CELLULOSIC alcohol or Methanol (same thing dragsters use as fuel)— “wood” alcohol made from ANY plant cellulose materials. Burns super clean vs. ethanol, and does NOT destroy carburators and engine rings, like ethanol does. The entire way we got to ethanol was criminal and the Corn Lobby. Corn Tacos and Gas price subsidies-— both went up as has price of fuel.

Wood alcohol is the same as in Sterno. It cleans valves and rings in the engine— solvates deposits and burns them.

P.S.- one can make methanol at home, carefully. Making grain neutral ethanol spirits at home? Is federally illegal in ANY quantity (because of the moonshine revenue business)- Can make 80 gals of beer/wine but zero of pure grain ethanol— lot of people don’t know this.

They also discovered a concentration of C ₂H ₅−OH at about 6 to 8% per 12 oz.

And the dihydrogen monoxide was through the roof! A chemical! That kills people!

If you find a beer that you don’t like, apply it to your weeds.

If you find one you do like, you can filter it through yourself and then apply it to your weeds.

Your argument is a good one and reminds me of a current commercial with a bugger eating moron loudly asks, “How would you like to drink a glass of LEAD !!!” People are so easily persuaded by lying with pseudo science.

This is about money as much it is about enviro wackos. At least one lawsuit has found against Mosanto, manufacturer of Roundup, based on a bogus finding by a UN affiliated health organization that claimed that glyophosphate is a “probable” carcinogen. Hundreds of other lawsuits are in the queue. Billions of dollars are at stake and this effort is designed to win the popular argument and therefore taint the jury pool.

The fact that the biology of a dandelion has nothing to do with the biology of homo sapiens will be ignored in all of this.

I always check for the Roundup Ready label when shopping for soybean and corn seeds. Then I call the Co-op when the crop is ready for a little Roundup application.

Try Dragon Stout, it’s much better than Guinness and it has a slight trace of cane flavor. It’s brewed in Jamaica. For regular beer I think Red Stripe (also from Jamaica) is really great.
