Oregon is the first state in the nation with statewide rent control.
Gov. Kate Brown signed Senate Bill 608 into law Thursday. It takes effect immediately.
Brown called the legislation a groundbreaking, bold start.
“(This) will provide immediate relief to Oregonians struggling to keep up with rising rents and a tight rental market, but it doesn’t work on its own,” the governor said. “It’s going to take much more work to ensure that every Oregonian in our communities large and small have access to housing choices.”

Actually I have, since we own a second home in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Carmel Beach is wonderful and you can run your dog on it without a leash. Sunset Beach, the State Beach further south is another story. Gun-toting “rangers” who seem to relish making life miserable for the people who pay their salaries.
The Portland area is at the tip of the spear in implementing Agenda 21 / Sustainable Development.
AKA, the UN’s Communistic Plan to regulate and control every human and every human activity.
Progressives love rent control not because it fixes problems, but because it drives minorities out of their neighborhoods. Rental properties in Oregon will convert to condos and be sold off, at high prices, disproportionally to whites. Blacks will leave the state.
And so it begins.....
When the government controls anything, it gets worse.
Rent controls will end up meaning fewer rentals, not cheaper rentals.
Same thing happened in Hawaii when they placed price controls on gasoline years ago.
Instead of cheaper gas, they got less gasoline.

It is impossible for me to feel sorry for anyone that lives on the West Coast. California, Oregon, and Washington are the worst of the liberal strongholds. They will eventually go bankrupt and we all must fight the bailout from the taxpayer.
Time to start, is now, to end any Federal monies going to those states that do not enforce immigration laws. This blatant disregard for law must be punished or the cancer will spread and disorder will reign.
