A new anti-Trump publication is the last thing conservative media needs
the Week ^ | March 1, 2019 | Matthew Walther

What if we had a center-right publication, broadly in favor of globalized free trade and deregulation and hawkish on foreign policy, whose columnists really hated President Trump, even when he does things they otherwise agree with, like spit in Vladimir Putin's face? But The Washington Post already exists, you say. Exactly. Which is why I cannot figure who the audience for Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg's new journalism project is supposed to be. According to Axios, the former editor of The Weekly Standard and the founder of National Review Online are "seeking investors" for "a reporting-driven, Trump-skeptical" conservative periodical.

I never bothered going to Quisling Bill Kristol's new site "The Bulwark". As with Kristol, I am sure Jonah and company will find some Leftist sugar daddy to fund their vanity project.

They seem to think a new “Weekly Standard” will do better than the old “Weekly Standard”.

This sounds like a Koch brothers project. They are as bad as Schumer/Pelosi in their hatred of President Trump, because they make their money off of the slave labor coming across our border and don’t want that gravy train to stop.

Of course, the Middle Class pays for open borders in tax dollars and the blood of their loved ones, but that doesn’t bother these greedy SOBs.

“This sounds like a Koch brothers project.”

For sure. It will take a deep-pockets daddy to keep this loser in operation.

These clowns will have no difficulty finding investors.

Readers, that’s another story.

Jonah and Steve are out in the cold

They refuse to come in from the cold and their effort will fail. The audience for their views has been Trumped and disappeared.

This isn’t about making money or gathering subscribers.

It’s about providing anti-Trump narratives from the “Right” for the upcoming Presidential election.

According to Axios, the former editor of The Weekly Standard and the founder of National Review Online are "seeking investors" for "a reporting-driven, Trump-skeptical" conservative periodical.

A reporting-driven, Trump-skeptical conservative periodical would be DOA.

Nearly 100% of the reporting today is Trump-skeptical or worse. There might be a market that would appeal to the existing Trump hating crowd, but they already get their news to fuel their blind hatred for Trump. Why should they spend a nickel for another source of mindless negativity and pure hate?

I am impressed with the orderly, disciplined communist like tactics and behavior of the Democrats. I am also impressed with the limp wristed behavior of many weak willed Republicans.

Their own ego (and maybe billionaire backers like the Koch brothers) won’t let them admit the reason for the downfall of National Review or Weekly Standard.

So, here is another operation that nobody wants to further their own self-indulgence.

Goldberg and his ilk make me sick and the writer has a bead on their ridiculousness, but lost me here:

“If private health-care nonprofits are a better idea than the guaranteed universal coverage available in virtually every other industrialized country, perhaps they should volunteer at one of them in a secretarial capacity.”

Modern “conservatism” still keeps moving ever to the left with each new generation of pundit and “public intellectual”, as they all still grovel to the indoctrination of their peers. E.g., NR editors in their last podcast waxed eloquent about reparations—with one saying reparations were so inadequate to the harm done that they would be a cheap discharge of guilt, and so not good enough for what needs to be done.

These two guys are out of a job from a magazine, The Weekly Standard, that failed because of the very agenda of this new periodical....publishing Trump skeptical hating screeds.

They'd have better success if they just went to work for the Washington Compost or New York Slimes.

If it’s not funded by the Koch brothers, maybe it’s funded by Soros. Anything to undermine Trump.
