The spectacle in North Carolina's 9th District makes 2018 feel like the election that will never end. And, the looming presidential primaries are rapidly overshadowing congressional politics. But the 2020 fight for the House is already underway, with both the DCCC and NRCC working behind the scenes to identify the most ideal recruits and releasing ambitious lists of targeted districts to declare they are "on offense."
Republicans will need to gain 18 seats to win back the majority (or 19 depending on the outcome of a new election in NC-09), and have no shortage of good-looking targets, at least on paper: there are now 31 Democrats sitting in districts carried by President Trump in 2016 and just three Republicans sitting in districts carried by Hillary Clinton.
But Democrats have history on their side: the House majority hasn't flipped twice in a row since 1954 and hasn't flipped during a presidential cycle since 1952. Democrats have gained House seats in five of the past six presidential elections and in seven of the past eight presidential cycles, the net partisan seat shift in the House has been in the single digits.

A huge advantage for many Democratic challengers in 2018 was that they could hammer Republican incumbents for "voting with President Trump 95 percent of the time" and didn't have a voting record of their own to defend. Remarkably, of the 43 Democrats who captured Republican-held seats in 2018, only six had ever served in a state legislature and only eight had held any kind of elective office at all.
Republicans note that won't be the case 20 months from now. GOP strategists hope to make Democratic freshmen "one-term wonders" by tying them to "radical," economy-disrupting proposals such as a Green New Deal and Medicare for All.

With Pelosi iron hand control of her caucus, The Democrats are going to lose some of those seats because the voters in those purple districts disklike Pelosi more than they dislike Trump.
The democrats are going to lose a ton of elections. But not to worry, they will win them fifteen to twenty days later.
Elections are nothing to them. It’s like a cheating dealer at cards.
In this Godless nation, Dems will continue to increase their power.
Republicans can win back the House by being unapologetically FOR America, the rule of law, and stopping the illegal alien inundation.
Republicans MUST become as adept at “ballot harvesting” as democrats.
What the Democrats cannot keep on their own, the GOPe will do their very best to give them.
Considering the number of states that are legalizing infanticide, I doubt it
Elections are nothing to them. Its like a cheating dealer at cards.

True.
What we should do:
1) we win fair and square in the 2020 election and take over the House and increase Senate plus Trump re-elected.
or
2) we demand we have the House,Senate and Presidency and will not accept that the country will go on without that being true. Nothing new, that’s the old Dem way.
Playing by the rules and within the system is the usual way for us. Naïve, old fashioned, outdated maybe. We’ll see.
We will NOT give up our nation to Communist totaliatrian government with unrestricted infant murder (”abortions”), banks and credit cards not allowing gun owners or NRA members or licensed gun dealers to have accounts, talk radio not allowed, roving gangs of leftists intimidating, beating and murdering first the elderly and then everyone else (like Hitler Youth), wide open borders with unrestricted hordes of illegals coming in for welfare, free voucher housing and their Dem voter cards (ICE abolished and laws passed to give all sanctuary city status all over the country. No one can question illegals to see which have a weapon of mass destruction coming across the border to be set off in a major US city. Churches and synagogues closed.
We played by the rules and Dems didn’t (Kavanaugh, coup against Trump, etc.).
Republicans MUST become as adept at ballot harvesting as democrats.
True. We will definitely get some of those California seats back. In 2018, only the dems were ballot harvesting in California.
The issue will be Socialism. POTUS defined it. The MSM can’t deny or ignore it. Democrats will not be able to sugarcoat it.
With few exceptions, the GOP is dead as a national viable party of representation and leadership.
I think Spanberger in Virginia goes back to Republican and Lauri a good chance too.
I ‘ll look into Wexton more. Riggleman will win again. One or 2 pickup is likely in Virginia with Wexton a chance too.
Lots of Debbie Downers out there in FR today, perhaps a bit of a Trump Hater effect. I think that we will recover some of the seats that we lost in 2018, but perhaps not enough to regain control of the House. The results in California were a function of legalizing a practice that establishes a methodology for massive voter fraud. We probably won’t get those seats back.
If the Republicans cannot kill voter harvesting, illegal voting or states giving their Electoral College Votes to the one who “wins” the popular vote, they might as well pack their bags and go home for 50 years.
Correct, and don’t count on any help from politicians. This is a voter issue and the politicians want these sort of corruption. It helps incumbents.
It’s going to depend on the presidential race. If the Democrats nominate someone as unlikable as Hillary then the House could flip again. If they nominate someone their base and independents can get behind then they keep their majority.
“Keep the Establishment” has replaced “We the People”.
Certainly. Looking good so far. Historically, Presidential election years usually roll back results of mid term elections. Its a question of degree, and since the country has become more divided along partisan lines, history may not be a good predictor.
I'm seeing mass hysteria from the media and the Left which will cloud their judgment and lead to a more vulnerable slate of candidates. Quietly, those of us in fly over country, are watching and are unlikely to jump on the bandwagon. The naive may be surprised by the outcome. Hope springs eternal.
