People are not going to turn in their guns and politicians who think they will do so are being naïve. Fighting will surely ensue as the forces of the regime go door to door to try to take them.

Available on YouTube is a six part documentary on The Spanish Civil War produced in 1986 by Grenada TV.
It's an excellent and even-handed survey of the conflict. Most noteworthy is the fact that in 1986 many of the principle actors, Spaniards and ex-patriots, were still alive and participated in documentary. Six hours well spent IMHO.
If we have a violent conflict in this country it will more likely resemble what happened in Spain rather than our War Between the States.

In the end, the death toll will far exceed the 620,000 people who died in our first civil war.
I have seen estimates 3 to 5 times that number.

It begun years ago. Up till now, only one side has been fighting and it wasn’t our side.

It has been waged for about 65 years, but only by one side.
OUR side simply either was too cowardly to take the field or simply refused to acknowledge that it was on-going.
By the tiniest margin, we got a guy who, in spite of being a Manhattan billionaire, really IS one of us.
Forevermore, whenever I have a choice between a PRO politician and a rank amateur..?

The military would never do that as it would violate their oath of enlistment to protect and defend the constitution. I sure as hell wouldn’t.
It is not a war. It is a surrender.
MUCH more foreign involvement with THIS one than the first ‘civil war’.
Our side was too cowardly to take the field.
Our leaders were actually on the other side working against us. They played us via our social beliefs on abortion, God, family all the while working against both those and our economic interests.
The confiscating forces will be fractured. I don’t see all military and police forces united in coordinated confiscation. But there will be enough of them, a la Nazi Germany, just following orders to create a violent response to protect their civil liberties. And this is why a Second Amendment exists.
