What it is for is that now and forever, whenever they are introduced in public or on TV or in the media their name will be preceded by “FORMER CANDIDATE FOR THE PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES.......” OR “FORMER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE..........”
It raises their status in the Party and strokes their ego at the same time.
