Well, if you are a minimum wage restaurant worker and you lose your job now that it’s $15/hour, you’ll have to switch to doing the next best thing:
Get elected as a ‘Rat congresscritter.
Communists have no idea about market forces.
$15 or $0
For some this is a really tough decision.
The government has no right to set a maximum or minimum hourly rate. No other considerations are relevant.
NY should open some Government Cafeterias
Heres the bright side to losing your $15/hr. McDonalds job: now when you file for unemployment, you can report your earnings were $15/hr and youll collect commensurate with that rate. /sarc
They got what they wanted.
More unemployment.
Learn to code.
Just being honest, but no way that $15 an hour will help you live in NYC, so their whole argument is ignorant. Find a place to live then add all the other “must pays” of life, and it’s simply not possible.
That should wake up most working people about how insane their entire city and state are. I could live very modestly on $15 an hour in the midwest, but I could do it.
The people put out of work become dependents on the democrat welfare plantation so as far as the democrat party is concerned, this is a win/win situation with some getting a raise and the rest more likely to become useful idiots.
It’s not just the layoffs and restaurants going under.
The places still open have had to raise prices and/or change their menus. Neither of which will likely make for good revenue.
Assuming you have 6 people working at any given time in a fast food place and you are open 10 hours per day it means any $1.00 increase comes out to 60 dollars per day. If you are open 360 days per year it comes out to $21,600.00 in extra payroll cost just for wages. There is also $1652.40 in more payroll taxes. Assuming every employee went from $10 to $15 it would mean $116,262 in more cost. Most franchises earn well under 100K per year.
Thats great news!
The economic mastermind AOC will now push
To spend all that unused $15 an hour job money
On fixing subways and streets !
I can’t even imagine existing in NYC for $15 per hour. That’s what McDonalds cost for lunch! I’d be living in a box and sh*tting in the streets! oh wait...
Tee hee.
Was in Manhattan last month for a Business meeting. Not one restaurant worker spoke english. These were in high priced restaurants. One women cleaning our table did not understand one word we said. None of them were worth $15 an hour.
I don't understand. This keeps happening.
First Seattle, now New York. What is going on here?
