WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army estimates the Russian army’s military capabilities will peak in 2028, closely followed by the Chinese around 2030, giving the United States almost a decade to prepare for those threats, a senior Pentagon official said in an interview on Monday.

The top civilian at the U.S. Army, Secretary Mark Esper, said the Army will reduce, eliminate or delay nearly 200 weapons programs and refocus the funds on investing in capabilities to beat emergent Russian and Chinese militaries.

Hitler figured he wouldn’t go to war until the mid 40s. Nothing ever goes as planned.

Wonder how the Army analysts project the future strength of the United States? After all it is a country that no longer has a common social or political consensus based on shared values. It is bitterly divided culturally and politically. It has a $40 trillion Federal debt, over $15 trillion in state and municipal debt, as well as ~$20 trillion in unfunded, ongoing liabilities, and out of control continued deficit spending in all sectors. It continues to project its power and resources around the world with little or no return to its own citizens. It is one election away from disaster. So what do these Army analysts say about their own country’s future?

Problem is, your enemy never works on your time-table.

The intent of our enemies is to nullify as much of our capability in the first minutes of a war, as they can.

Then the whole apple cart is upside down, and you’re picking up from a disadvantage.

I fear we are not factoring in China’s real goals, capabilities, and exact military planning.

With China, Russia, and Islam against us, it could get dicey if we aren’t very careful.

If they could knock out a number of our carriers, it would change things.

I have always said, China wouldn’t mind giving up half it’s population to have absolute rule over the planet.

Considering Hitler was the one who started WWII he did have a certain amount of control over the date.

just sayin’.

PS- Hitler was a drugged up psychopath who made the grave error of believing his own bulls**t.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military has spent 9 million taxpayer dollars in two years turning men into wymyn. Awesome.

A country that can’t use it’s military to defend it’s borders won’t have a recognisable unified military to face threats like China in the future. Be too busy splintering into civil war factions

Well, I don't know about Russia, but China has a very firm policy. Firstly, all citizens must take military training. Most children I know of have fired a fully automatic AK by the time they have turned 14. This includes both boys and girls. Two week long training sessions from 12 to 16 years old are mandatory every year during the summer.

During the sessions, the students are graded in ability, health and leadership. If there are any indications of mental or emotional disorder that is noted, and goes into their records. This can include homosexual, gender confusion, and social impairment.

Later on, if they want to join the military as a career, they are evaluated and interviewed and anyone with mental illnesses are restricted from joining the services.

I know you were asking this question as a joke, referring to the United States defanging by Obama. I know you didn't expect a serious answer. You know, the real story is often far more interesting than the black and white cardboard cutout from the mainstream media.

That’s going to depend on their economic strength obviously.

Russia has nukes, yes. As for conventional capability, they are a country with an economy that is not even in the top 10. Measured at Purchasing Power Parity which favors Russia, their economy is only 1/5th the size of ours.

Us Forces peaked when the Pentagon brass focused on the F35 and Littoral Combat Ships to the detriment of all else including training, spare parts and maintenance - the handwriting on the wall was announced with the ban on F22 export and the limited purchase of only 189.

Mr. Zero just slashed funding and everything has been falling apart ever since.

It would likely take all 8 years of DJT to restore the US, not to mention the elimination of the whole social experiment crap, plus some sort of guarantee that future Presidents would not slash funding or follow Zero’s social lead.

But that will not happen since Pelosi will not allow future defense budgets to grow only shrink. So the US will continue to coast along on past achievement, until it meets a peer on the battle field and suffers very heavy losses.

The handwriting is on the wall in space and cyber. Fortunately Trump recognizes this and is alslo beefing up conventional forces. But the future belongs to the light, autonomous forces.

The estimate is that it would peak in 2028, but at what level?

Is the S400 a paper weapon?

China made an order in 2014 and this is what happened with a shipment:

I asked Rostec CEO Chemezov about S-400 deliveries to China and if it included 40N6 interceptors. He said it did, but a storm struck the ship that was delivering the missiles and destroyed all of them. Almaz-Antey, Rostec’s S-400 producer, is now making replacements for China.

But, according to Pavel Felgengauer:

Claiming that equipment has been lost at sea is a classic Soviet means of dispensing with outdated products and escaping responsibility for meeting contractual obligations.
