I would like to see the writer of this article, Jonathan Watts, come to Texas on a clear summer day, walk barefoot on an asphalt road, which many Texas roadways are made of, at high noon, and then walk on a road made of concrete under the same conditions.

BS! All human activity combined adds up to about 3% of the global CO2 emissions! Concrete does not contribute 4-8% of all global CO2 emissions by itself. This article is completely fake!

If one dares to look at the wikipedia article on "environmental impact of concrete" you find this little jewel in the section on different approaches that would reduce the CO2 impact of concrete.

"Another approach is to pump liquid carbon dioxide into the concrete before mixing. This can reduce the carbon emissions from concrete production when combined with a power plant or other industry that produces CO2"

So they would suggest you expend the energy and cost to liquify CO2 and then pump it into the concrete being mixed. Hard to believe but this is what we are dealing with.
