India says it has carried out air strikes against militants following a suicide bomb attack earlier this month.
Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said the strikes targeted Balakot, but it is not clear that if that is in Pakistan or Pakistani-administered Kashmir. He said several militants were killed.
Pakistan said it scrambled fighter planes in response.
The move represents an escalation of hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Mr. Gokhale told a news conference that the strikes had targeted the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)…..

How bout they just let countries like India and Israel deal with the islamic crazies how they see fit. Love to see India give the commie Chinese a bloody nose some day too. All I see is mutual face saving. India launches a strike on terrorists, who might have lost a few, but keep on ticking despite licking. Pakistan scrambles jets, but does not engage, thereby “defending” unwanted “guest” so they don’t start targeting Pakis, and adhering to tacit understanding with India. It’s all a kabuki dance, imho.

One thing is reassuring, though. India and Pakistan would rather do that kabuki dance than rush headlong into a nuclear war, even though there is much mutual hatred, and neither of them are deeply rooted in the Western influences they picked up from the Raj.
IAF’s Balakot strike lasted 21 mins, used 1,000 kg Israeli bombs fed with GPS coordinates
Initial plan was for the Mirage 2000 aircraft to fire the bombs from inside the LoC, but strong winds made them cross over to take better aim.
