THAT is the root issue of our border problems. The physical layout, lack of intelligence and surveillance are only SYMPTOMS of that root issue.
The Department of Homeland Security actually protecting the borders of the homeland. What a novel idea.
$5B-$6B is peanuts in the Defense budget. I would not be surprised if POTUS has the “wall” money baked into the Defense budget. Meaning no dimunition of readiness.
Make it so. Time to recognize we are under attack and being invaded; just not in the historical and traditional way.

What’s really needed is for Congress to remove the lures that entice people to come here. There’s not much DHS can do about the numbers coming our way until Congress does its job.
Quit pussy footing around and put armed troops on the border. Its not a violation of posse commatatus.

I have long been an advocate of bringing most of our troops home from foreign nations and stationing a couple of Divisions along the border (DMZ).
But the idea of doing something even remotely like that won’t get support from either the Left Democrats or the Right Neo-cons.

They spent a billion or so on a bunch of electronic warfare crap in Southern Arizona that only half worked. What he wants is some nice fat juicy contracts for Boeing to do that again under the rubric of “we didn’t spend enough last time out, if you give us $10 billion more maybe we can stop one or two aliens from entering!”
