White Tucker Carlson Guest Says African-Americans Need to Move on From Slavery (Video)
Tucker Carlson guest Mark Steyn offered his thoughts and slavery and the issue of reparations to the descendants of U.S. slaves, telling viewers of Carlsons Fox News show Thursday that nobody living today knew anyone who had been a slave and that people just needed to move on from the whole issue.
Slavery was abolished a century and a half ago. Nobody alive today had a grandparent who was a slave and in that sense I think you reach a point where, you know, you need to move on, said, Steyn, a Canadian author and culture commentator who is white. The reparations thing eventually, as the decades go by, becomes ridiculous. ...
The moment comes as Carlson faces a months long advertiser boycott after a segment on his show in December in which he said illegal immigration made the United States poorer and dirtier. Since that episode, major brands like Pacific Life, Red Lobster, SmileDirectClub and dozens of others have pulled ads from the show...

The author was talking about Tucker Carlson's guest, Mark Steyn. :)
There's too much money, too much moral superiority, and too many votes to be had to ever "move on" from the non-slaves bashing the never-slave-holders over some institution defunct since the 1860s.
They had moved on. 40 years ago it was no longer an issue.
Red Lobster is still a major chain?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Haven’t been to one in 30 years. They were overpriced way back then. Are they still around?
Because our country is rich.
It’s unfortunate but Steyn is probably going to get crucified for this remark. Truth is the enemy of Political Correctness
India has 18 million modern slavesat least five times more than any other country in the world
By Manu BalachandranMay 31, 2016
India is home to the largest number of enslaved people in the world.
A little over 18 million peopleequal to the entire population of Chileare victims of modern slavery in Asias third-largest economy, according to the Global Slavery Index (pdf), published by Australia-based human rights group Walk Free Foundation. Such persons are often engaged in domestic work, construction, farming, fishing, manual labour, forced begging, and in the sex industry.
Bingo. All these rights movements are recycled from 50 years ago.
By Native American do you mean Indian? I’m a Native American... Born in dc. If I’m not a Native American, what am I native to?
Growing up in a small town eating in the big city at Red Lobster was a big deal!
Sad to see it decline like it has.
In Texas in the fifties it was like WW says. Blacks owned their own businesses, not relying on Koreans or other outsiders like today. As far as being like ‘any immigrant community,’ I don’t know what that means. It was separate but equal and they had everything we did, including the culture, near as I could tell.
The great irony now is with the millions worldwide involved in sex-trafficking and continued involuntary servitude utterly common in the Muslim world....estimates are THERE ARE MORE IN SLAVERY TODAY THAN AT ANY TIME IN HUMAN HISTORY!!!!!
I’m tempted to retort with a line from a cinema classic: Repo Man,
“You’re a white suburban punk, just like me.”
They need to move away from victim-hood and using the color of their skin to get what they want.
The headline is misleading, and incendiary. The subject was reparations. He was saying that we should move on from reparations.
And of course, he's right.
Nobody alive today has owned slaves or were slaves.
I am a Native American, but not an Indian.
No. He broached the issue about returning ex-slaves to Africa with Frederick Douglass, and it was entirely unfeasible by then. The slaves were generations removed from Africa and were totally alien to the mother continent, and add to that, there was no way to move millions of them back to Africa.
The Liberia colony, which predated Lincoln, wasn’t exactly a rousing success. The American Blacks who returned were aliens to the natives and neither group assimilated into a single, unified country.
Judge Judy regularly has litigants who are on SSI and disability, who are perfectly capable of holding down jobs.
She gives them an earful about it, too.
So are you an indigenous dude, Yakima Tribe, or Skagit.
