Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris (Calif.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), who are both running for president, have reportedly said they support reparations for black Americans affected by slavery.
The New York Times reported Thursday that Harris affirmed her support for reparations in a statement after agreeing last week with a radio host that reparations are necessary.
"We have to be honest that people in this country do not start from the same place or have access to the same opportunities," Harris said in the statement. "I’m serious about taking an approach that would change policies and structures and make real investments in black communities."
Warren has also said that she supports reparations, according to the Times, though her campaign declined to provide further details to the newspaper.
The Hill has reached out to both campaigns for comment.
Warren and Harris are both pursuing the Democratic nomination for president in 2020 and the Times noted that previous Democratic presidential candidates have not supported reparations.
Among those who have not backed the policy are former President Obama, 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her Democratic rival that year, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the Times noted. Sanders is running for president again in 2020.

I'm not so sure about that. There are a lot of black conservatives, and I don't think they would fall for this ploy to get black votes.

You can’t. So why don’t you be honest about it and say that this would be a new tax on ALL Americans to fund a giveaway to secure black votes for your miserable party interminably.

Trump needs to respond to this and say that he agrees but the ones responsible for paying this are the DNC who’s ancestors were slave plantation owners. Democrats own the reparations issue and should be responsible for paying it from their campaign funds.

Something I’ve said for years, you start giving huge amounts of money from the rich to the poor and in a few years it’s right back to where it was again. Smart and ambitious trumps stupid and lazy every single time, and has nothing to do with your melanin content either.
(You think black on black crime statistics are bad now, give a payout to just the black community like they want and then you’ll see truly how they eat their own.)

The number of blacks affected by slavery today is 0, so I’m all for reparations for them
Democrats of old used their own money to buy their slaves.
Present day Democrats buy their slaves using taxpayer money.

Do I get reparations for being a Jew and Roosevelt not doing anything to save my family from the Nazi’s? Maybe the Japanese can sue California for reparations for being locked up in internment camps?

Reparations policy is the major indicator of fascism. It was also a Socialist cry in 1929 Germany, based on “historic justice.”
Truly, Harris and Warrren are liberal fascists. They need to be publicly identified for what they truly are, precursors to socialist gestapo society.

Hell...I am too. Anyone who has been enslaved by a cracker before the Emancipation Proclamation, please step forward and show proof of chain marks and lashings on the back!
