A Coast Guard lieutenant assigned to the service's headquarters in Washington, D.C., has been arrested on drug and gun possession charges, and is accused of plans to "murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country," according to documents filed in Maryland District Court.
Lt. Christopher Paul Hasson, an acquisitions officer for the National Security Cutter Acquisition Program, was arrested Feb. 15 and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by an unlawful user or addict of controlled substances, and possession of Tramadol, a Schedule IV pain medication.
A motion for detention pending trial, filed by U.S. Attorney Robert K. Hur, paints a much more menacing portrait of Hasson's crimes and planned crimes.
"The current charges, however, are the proverbial tip of the iceberg," Hur wrote. "The defendant is a domestic terrorist, bent on committing acts dangerous to human life that are intended to affect government conduct."
Hur cited a draft email written by Hasson in June 2017 in which he said he was "dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth" using a "Spanish flu, botulism, anthrax" or some other mass toxin.
Another draft letter to a "known American neo-Nazi leader" identified Hasson as a white nationalist looking for an opportunity for "a little focused violence" to establish racial supremacy.
When Hasson was arrested in Silver Spring, Maryland, earlier this month, the document states, law enforcement agents found 15 firearms, including shotguns, rifles and handguns, and "conservatively, over 1,000 rounds of mixed ammunition."
A list of potential targets allegedly compiled by Hasson in January included "prominent Democratic congressional leaders, activists, political organizations, and MSNBC and CNN media personalities" including TV host Chris Hayes; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California; Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Virginia; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-New York; and many others.

A lieutenant in the Coast Guard is a captain in the army.
This guy went through a variety of boards and promotions. He must have come across well to them.
I refuse to believe anything here unless the guy was caught in transit, armed and with notes to be left unless he didn't survive.
Tragically, this is how far we've come with respect to the in-bedded bureaucracy.
I agree. I just don’t trust them anymore.
Look at all the wonderful stuff that big pharma kicks out that the government can use to ensnare you with.
Nor do I.
Was thinking the same thing. If a photo of my supplies were ever to hit the press many people would think I was preparing for WTSHTF.
But in Montana ... I would be considered a piker.
The FBI has a history of this..the guy might be a nut but they egg him on til he commits a crime...
This social media makes people say a lot of things they would never say to someones face
I no longer believe anything is true.
These people imprisoned an innocent man to make clinton look good re Bengazi
They are thoroughly evil.
Maybe because it’s Fake and “Writing it down” is “proof” of his “intentions’ to the “media”
Las Vegas, Charlottesville, Parkland, Smollett . . . plenty of reasons to think plots are intentional to manipulate the proletariat
Liberal stations IGNORED the Smollett story yesterday. They of course are obsessed with the supposedly White Nationalist nitwit, saying Trump is to to blame. Different day, same sh*t from the media. Been going on for three years now, from the minute Trump went down the escalator and announced he was running for President.
Yeh, I have taken tramadol. Its not going to make you go out and kill anybody.
How many leftards have already publicly blamed Trump for his conduct, without giving his administration any credit for catching him?
Everywhere but here people seem to have realized that the Chicago Beatdown has worn itself out after a good week. It will pop up from time to time as court actions commence but the Big Show is over. Move on.
I instinctively question anything coming from government or media sources. They’re all liars and always have an agenda.
Guess I better not mention the events where people have done a lot worse with a lot less than the Vegas man that has brought us to the current state of affairs in air travel. TSA doesnt care about your thoughts. They just shake you down and take what they dont want you to have.
But I agree with you. Where there is no crime, there should be no punishment
Another thing to think about is that fact that this idiot was a member of the Coast Guard. Supposedly the CG has the highest ASVAB requirements of any branch of service. Of course, high IQ scores don’t mean you CAN’T be an idiot in other ways.
Whats been released so far seems to add up to a white supremasist but the MSM, including FNC, is calling him a white nationalist.
Why?
I think its because President Trump called himself a nationalist a few weeks ago.
As an aside,
At 7:09 am, the Alexandria Police received a 9-1-1 report of shots fired. Two police officers arrived within three minutes and also engaged Hodgkinson in a gunfight. Witnesses estimated between 50 and 100 shots were fired during the shootout, which lasted about 10 minutes before Hodgkinson was shot by two Alexandria Police and two Capitol Police officers.
Several witnesses said their lives were saved by the presence of the Capitol Police, who were there because of Scalise's position as the House Majority Whip. The Capitol Police immediately engaged Hodgkinson and kept him pinned down, preventing him from continuing to fire on the unarmed baseball players. Rep. Davis and Sen. Rand Paul separately said that if not for the presence of the officers, the incident "would have been a massacre."[28][4][29] A tactical squad from the Capitol Police Containment and Emergency Response Team was erroneously directed to the residence of Nancy Pelosi in Georgetown, delaying their response time.[30]
Hodgkinson had participated in the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign during the 2016 United States presidential election, and was described by a fellow campaigner in Iowa as a "quiet guy, very mellow, very reserved."[53][55]
On May 22, 2017, Hodgkinson wrote "Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co." above his repost of a Change.org petition demanding "the legal removal" of Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for "treason". He belonged to numerous political Facebook groups, including those named "Terminate the Republican Party," "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Republicans," and "Donald Trump is not my President."[58]
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, which took over the investigation, said on June 14 that it was too early to ascribe a motive for the shootings.[4] It put out a request for public assistance with "any information regarding Hodgkinson."[49] On June 16, 2017, USA Today reported, citing an anonymous source, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation found a list of names, including those of Republican Congressmen Mo Brooks, Jeff Duncan and Trent Franks, in Hodgkinson's pocket.[59] On June 21, FBI agent Timothy Slater said the names of six congressmen were written on a piece of paper found in an Alexandria storage locker rented to Hodgkinson. He said it did not appear to be a hit list, and that its significance was unclear.[60][61]
On July 27, 2017, Trump awarded the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor to five of the officers who were injured in the shooting.[65]
The Virginia Attorney General concluded it was "an act of terrorism...fueled by rage against Republican legislators".[13] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Congressional_baseball_shooting
Washington (CNN)The shooter who attacked a GOP baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, last week carried a list with the names of six members of Congress, the FBI said Wednesday, adding that the incident had no connection to terrorism and the shooter acted alone
An FBI news release said Hodgkinson took multiple photographs of Eugene Simpson Stadium Park, the scene of the shooting, in mid-April. At this point in the investigation, the FBI does not believe that these photographs represented surveillance of intended targets, though the release said the investigation into Hodgkinson's recent activities was ongoing. https://www.cnn.com/2017/06/21/politics/fbi-investigation-alexandria-shooting/index.html
The Patriot Act defines domestic terrorism as an attempt to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping. (Whether one thinks that this definition is too broad or too narrow is beside the point here; law enforcement follows the laws as written.)
As an NPR article explains , there isnt a federal charge of domestic terrorism. The Patriot Acts definition gives the Justice Department broad authority to investigate an individual or any group a suspect might be affiliated with. But the federal law doesnt come with an actual criminal charge. To be charged with terrorism, a person has to be suspected of acting on behalf of one of nearly 60 groups that the State Department has declared a foreign terrorist organization. - https://www.csicop.org/specialarticles/show/why_lsquotheyrsquo_arenrsquot_calling_it_lsquoterrorismrsquo_a_primer

Prosecutors wrote that Hasson had begun the “process of targeting specific victims.” Last February, he searched the internet for the “most liberal senators” and also asked, “Do senators have ss (Secret Service) protection” and “Are supreme court justices protected,” according to the court filing.
Court papers detail a June 2017 draft email in which he wrote that he was “dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth” and pondering how to acquire anthrax and toxins to create botulism or a deadly influenza.
In the same email, he discussed “biological attacks followed by attack on food supply” as well as a bombing and sniper attacks.
Also, Hasson sent himself a draft letter in 2017 that he had written to a neo-Nazi leader and “identified himself as a White Nationalist for over 30 years and advocated for ‘focused violence’ in order to establish a white homeland,” prosecutors wrote.
Hasson routinely read portions of a manifesto written by Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, a right-wing extremist serving a 21-year sentence for killing 77 people in a 2011 bomb-and-shooting rampage, authorities said.
“The defendant is a domestic terrorist, bent on committing acts dangerous to human life that are intended to affect governmental conduct,” they wrote.
