The Harris County District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday it has launched a review of more than 1,400 criminal cases that narcotics officer Gerald Goines worked on during his 34-year career at the Houston Police Department. The review includes 27 cases that are currently pending in court.
The undercover narcotics officer's work has come under intense scrutiny after a drug raid last month in south Houston in which two people were killed and five police officers were injured.
After the raid, Houston police announced they were investigating whether Goines had lied on an affidavit used to secure the search warrant used in the raid. After the raid, the wounded officer wrote down the names of two confidential informants he said made undercover purchases in the residence of Pecan Park residence were two residents died during the raid. Neither informant said they purchased drugs there.

FBI launches civil rights investigation into deadly botched raid
HOUSTON - The Houston Police Department and the city have come under fire after a botched drug raid that left two people dead and four officers shot, and now, the FBI is investigating if any civil rights were violated in the incident.
Thank of all the lives this horrible piece of s#@t has ruined.
And just think of all the folks who covered up for him for all these years.

James Comey would have hired this guy in a New York minute.
“James Comey would have hired this guy in a New York minute.”
Or any Florida-based law enforcement agency would have hired him too.
When I try to give Wray the benefit of the doubt, this is what I boil it down to. He won’t cooperate with congressional oversight because he can’t admit how corrupt investigations were going all the way to the top. If he did, 1000s (10,000s?) of convicted criminals would have to be released.
Then I despise him even more for valuing those convictions and use of the same techniques in the future over the Constitution and preserving the power of the FBI to misuse their powers again in the future.
Defense lawyers have job security with this.
How many innocent people did HPD execute..?
In this case, two.

The FBI has launched a formal civil rights investigation into the conduct of officers involved in the botched no-knock drug raid that left two people dead and five officers wounded, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo announced Wednesday at a City Hall press conference.
But, he stressed, the federal agency isn’t fully taking over the investigation and local authorities will continue moving ahead with the criminal probe.

“What we have modeled as a police department is not a department that’s covering up,” he said, explaining why the feds did not need to take over the entire case.
But on Friday, in the warrants executed by officers investigating the
botched raid, it is clear that no confidential informant ever went to
the house on 7815 Harding. In fact, all informants who worked with
Goines told investigators they did not go in that home.
Well, they are dead so I would say all of their rights were violated.

The DOJ/FBI need to look into Chicago’s PD and after a thorough investigation put them under Federal control and oversight for the next 20+ years.
Interesting - he’s a brother, and in this case it was honkies that were targeted. Changes the dynamics SIGNIFICANTLY. Will they now appoint a white police chief to ‘heal the city’ and mandate minimum numbers of white new hires?
I think that card looks more like this:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston_Police_Department#/media/File:Houston_Police_Department_patch.JPG
