Former U.S. Senate candidate John James is seen as one of President Trump's top candidates to become ambassador to the United Nations, a source familiar with discussions about the matter told Fox News on Tuesday.
The source said James is the leading candidate and has expressed interest in the position to the White House. The belief among Trump's inner circle is that James is a rising political superstar, and the U.N. post could provide him with a pathway into elected office. White House officials also confirmed to Fox News that James is under consideration.

Actually think he actually won but the conservative areas reported early enough that the DemocRATS could manufacture the votes needed to take him out by morning. When I went to bed he had a commanding lead.
She still won by six and a half points.
You must be clueless or never been around Army gun drivers. If he can survive Hudson High, make it through Rucker and be a bonafied 64 driver he has all the qualifications to do it on the fly. Those of us who have been there and done that eat our own and we are nothing like the UH-Sissy crowd.
There wasn't enough turnout.
There weren't enough shots fired to threaten legal action (see: Covington) if they dared try to steal anything.
There wasn't enough "celebration of race" in Detroit and other hypocritical liberal Democratic areas.
Union money and Hollywood money came POURING IN from out-of-state.
. Establishment Repubs and Dems didn't want an "uppity" black (with a white wife) in the halls of the Senate.

Why? We should hope that the President doesn't dignify the UN with anybody of any stature ... someone along the lines of one of the members of the President's cabinet in "Idiocracy" ...
...with the simple directive of voting in opposition to however the the Europeans, Russians, or Chinese voted.
In the name of Professor Quincy Adams Wagstaff: "Whatever it is, I'm against it!"
“Id like to see him make another run at the Senate.”
That would seem a better fit for him at this point in his career.
I dont think hes ready to take on world experienced diplomats because he was in the military.
Apparently Trump has been sold on having a UN ambassador who reads tough speeches after they are reviewed and edited by experienced international strategists... like Haley did
Snyder screwed Bill Schuette because he beat the hand picked RINO in the primary. Schuette got no help from the party.
He'd be a great choice.
Agreed(though I think ours had only 3...weed, redistricting, registration), even in rural GOP areas that Prop.3(same day voter registration and no-reason absentee voting)poison pill passed.
WTF is wrong with people?
(or should I smell yet another Wayne County rat?)
Bottom-line, OUR "R" rep.'s are bunch of lazy a$$es.
Like D.C., they have no fight, no core values...other than using their acquired political power to pad their pockets, while at the same time not making waves that might...prevent them from padding their pockets.
Scoundrels, all.
Good luck winning again in MI GOP
(question is, do they really give a shyte?)
If all Trump wants is a sharp looking strong voiced puppet, so be it
James whose only political experience is losing a race wouldnt be much of an advisor on world diplomacy, but he would be able to follow orders from the WH and State Department and impressively deliver speeches other people write for him
He really made some good strides toward the end that would make him a stronger candidate next time around, much more name recognition from the start.

That’s funny, I worked on his campaign, I’m very active here politically, current precinct delegate and serve on the county executive committee. I’ve never heard, not even a hint of what you wrote. No one thought he would get anywhere near 6 points to the most established democrat here in Michigan. He was at least 20 points down within six months of the election. Of all the candidates, he generated and garnered the most excitement by far. John ran a great campaign. He had the backing of every Republican, establishment included, that I knew, which is a lot. Not sure about UN, but John set himself up nicely to run against a much weaker candidate in Gary Peters.
I’ll see John Friday night at his party ahead of the convention. Maybe he’ll shed some light on this!
Id like to see him make another run at the Senate.
That would seem a better fit for him at this point in his career.
Agreed, he should run against Gary Peters in 2020. He ran a great campaign against a very wealthy, formidable opponent in Debbie Stabenow.
/\ This
JJ should start planning now if he is going to run against Peters.
If I was still active in MI politics I would get ahold of Engler and see how much juice he still holds here.
The Liberals hated John Engler so much because he was so smart and commanded a political machine that was second to none.
If I was still active in MI politics I would get ahold of Engler and see how much juice he still holds here.
Unfortunately, John Engler didn’t make himself any friends during the MSU temporary President term. He didn’t come across that well, and I’m a supporter of his.
Yes. I supported John in his GOP primary election last year and November’s general election. I would love to see him serving this administration anywhere the public will see how good he is. I see John as more than intelligent enough to master any public service task he takes on, and I think he is a well grounded Conservative.
I bet he has the juice behind the scenes.
Juice, probably. More like $$$$$$$$$$$
