Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI, said a bipartisan group of lawmakers was briefed on a counterintelligence investigation into President Trump and not one of them objected.
McCabe and other FBI officials informed the so-called "Gang of Eight" — leaders from both parties in the House and Senate, as well as the chairs and co-chairs of the House and Senate intelligence committees — that the bureau had opened a counterintelligence investigation into Trump after he fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.
“No one objected, not on legal grounds, not on constitutional grounds, and not based on the facts,” McCabe told NBC’s “Today” show Tuesday.

Of course, he is a lying liar, so there’s no way to know if this is true. But considering the “gang,” it would not be shocking.
Gang of 8 = Deep state
i.e. he’s basically arguing that the sun sets in the west and water is wet.
I have been saying the gang of 8 was fully involved and part of the effort from the beginning. This is what Trump has been up against, the dems, the republicans, the deep state, the courts and hell, even the Executive branch has been fighting Trump. How he as survived this long is beyond me.
Shazam.....we know that Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan would be A-OK with this unconstitutional plot against our President, but who were the other GOP members of this bi-partisan terroristic cabal?

So there were two investigations going on...this one and then Mueller’s of which Trump was not the target.

The republicans in the gang of eight would be McConnell, Ryan, Burr and Nunes. Nunes was the only one working to defend Trump from the coup.
Since the Deep State doesn’t need actual evidence for arrests and prosecutions, Trump should “Roger Stone” all eight gang members (and any of their staff who could have been aware of McCabe’s activities).

the gang of eight have no oversight of the DOJ / FBI. I equate this to a business where someone tries to get the boss fired and asks the grounds keeper if it is ok.
Well, McCabe says he personally authorized a counterintelligence investigation into President Trump following Comey's firing. So there's that.
I don't think he lied about that. He did kick off the coup in earnest by using Trumps words in the firing letter to reason that firing Comey gave him probably cause to suspect that Russia was pulling his strings. Absurd but it was enough given zero oversight but the courts, the congress, or the DOJ.
Sure no one objected. However, if McCabe did not inform them that the investigation was based on a pack of lies and Hillary’s smear campaign, there wouldn’t be any push-back. That it was an insurance policy. If he lied to the Gang of Eight, they would not object.
Considering the fact that the FBI was discussing the 25th amendment should scare the hell out of everyone. McCabe literally describes discussing an attempted coup of a duly elected President by the FBI. That’s the definition of a police state.
