Trump Pledges to ‘Take Care of ICE,’ Then Signs Bill Crippling Agency’s Power to Deport Illegals

During a press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Friday morning, President Trump pledged to “take care” of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents moments before signing policy into law that strips the agency of deportation powers.

“ICE is abused by the press and by the Democrats,” Trump said. “And by the way, we’re going to be taking care of ICE. Whether we talk about the new bill … we’re going to be taking care of ICE. They wanted to get rid of ICE and the bill is just the opposite of that.”

The bipartisan spending package, however, dismantles ICE agents’ power to deport illegal aliens living in the U.S. who have either relatives or friends of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs).

A provision signed off by Trump bans ICE agents from deporting any illegal alien sponsor who takes in a UAC after the child has been trafficked across the U.S.-Mexico border. The spending bill now codifies into law, indefinitely, that federal immigration officials are not allowed to deport not only illegal alien sponsors of UACs, but also any illegal alien living in the household of a UAC or those who claim to be “potential sponsors” of UACs.

It could also be that _some_ of them are just folks with no patience and a black & white view of the universe.

Easy to find the NT’s by a quick glance of posting history, but the patience-impaired are more difficult.

We have been conned over and over. Just about all those we elect are compromised, either by bribes or threats. On the threat side, I think Donald’s adult children have decided to brave the fray. I’d wager they pay a lot to protect their kids, since the more tightly wound of the commies have threatened them openly.

Everyone has been on their last nerve for a couple of years now; some for longer.

I have to admit that among our friends, even those with Special Forces training/experience don’t have answers to how to combat this coup and the goal of subverting our Constitution.

Being a born contrarian, I try to do my research, but it does get depressing to see the opposition machine in action. Hardly anyone wants to hear something positive, either.

They will all turn on a dime when/if Trump prevails in our behalf, as he has, so far.

One caveat: the left is not stupid. They are not insane. They are battering the foundations of our country and our way of life in a relentless and coordinated attack that has succeeded in dividing America along every binary fault line imaginable. It is heartbreaking to watch.

Just a minor explanation...spending provisions are often renewed, year after year, some basically forever. While they don’t become permanent changes to the basic laws, it is a way Congress gets around the much more cumbersome procedures to change permanent statutes.

Thus once in a budget bill or CR, they become difficult to remove the next budget cycle. Thus they essentially become permanent in effect.

Since you are into civics I thought you’d enjoy these facts.

And under CRs which have increasingly been used to fund agencies rather than “a full budget bill”, the provisions of the previous funding are automatically carried forward unless otherwise stated.

> Trump signed multiple wall-less spending bills during his first two years <

That’s it right there - a simple, undebatable fact. The GOP had the Presidency, the Senate, and the House for two golden years. And yet nothing was done.

The only thing that matters now is how to apportion the blame between Trump and the GOP leadership. I’d say it’s 50-50.

This is way worse than amnesty. Now you get rewarded with amnesty if you sponsor a new illegal into the country.

What a f**king disaster!

To try to understand google without looking at the source code, one would have to devise something like a Turing Test, not to determine whether google is human, but to figure out what google is doing.

That means if an illegal shows up saying “hey, that’s my kid”. And it turns out to be true (yeah they check) ICE can’t arrest them right then and there as they had been doing. Small potatoes.

I’ve read, from people who study such things, that not even the top humans at goog know precisely what their AI is doing at all times. It evolves. It is smart and getting smarter. It can *divine*/*intuit* what a searcher means by the words in the query box close enough to allow the inclusion of the FAQ and related searches lists. Refine the search and the AI comes scarily closer and closer to ‘reading your mind’.

The point, though, is that today articles and especially about 60 characters of the headlines/the first 100 words are written for 2 audiences. One of them is human. The other is goog. There are programs that vet (and write?? IDK) the sort of headlines/1st graph that insure a top rank. The vetting can be done by hand with a simple checklist. Remember: traffic is king. Clicks mean revenue. Obtaining your click through and then measuring your time on the landing site are important elements of ranking, too. The sites with the top 3 ranks make the most money.

I think we’d be wise to take some of the predictions of AI turning against us humans seriously. We’re turning control of information over to something quite new and dependent on not only its programming, but its future evolution.

Goog, the company, and the designers of the AI/ranking bot know that almost no one reads beyond the first page of returned results. They know humans scan. We’re all pretty sure they know how to use those proclivities against us, as well as in facilitating our search for information.

Just keep that in mind when searching.

Oh no! This is the absolute end!!

I KNEW lil Annie Asshole and her band of followers HAD to be right!!

Seriously, even if some rodents get in get can’t you see that Trump won by getting Plastic Face to put up money for our wall?
The POS said she would never vote for a single dollar for the wall and she just did. Trump is building the wall and will keep building it until it is finished and the Democrats are finished.

Want to nit pick; there are almost, 1200 pages of this bill so have at it; but this one ends in September and after Trump beats the crap out of them for six month the Democrats will be glad to sign anything to look like they actually care about our safety.

How about direction your criticism at the retarded never-Trump a-holes on this thread, who posit that a fkg spending bill creates or overrides statutory law. Or are you too a member of the Ann CultWhore clique?

You’re welcome - and thank you for affirming what I learned through reading the actual text.

People here don’t seem to get that Breitbart is a total joke, now that Andrew is gone. Steve Bannon hijacked Breitbart, and he is proving himself a fanatical alt-right a-hole. While at the WH, Bannon was betraying confidentiality so to push his own agenda. Trump was right to fire the SOB. Now, Bannon’s goal is to damage Trump any way he can, because the President would not be his alt-right puppet.

Ann Coulter is a narcissistic opportunist - and I’ll wager she is borderline personality disorder, if not in fact a sociopath. The woman sleeps with Bill Maher, FFS! What the hell more evidence does one need to discern she’s a crazed loon with her own agenda? The ONLY thing Coulter cares about is gas-lighting the populace, so to make the soil fertile for her next book. How effing naive does one have to be to not understand her game?

Coulter, Bannon, Ingraham, and Horowitz are all connected with Breitbart - and they are all cranks who think they can manipulate President Trump to their will. These people are media attention whores. They are trying to damage this president with a disinformation campaign, because the publicity makes them money.

FReepers need to wise up. These clowns care only about their next windfall, garnered from the suckers whom they have manipulated through their mass media hyperbole. It’s their shtick. It’s what they do to keep an audience. They know most Americans have short attention spans, and so Coulter, et al, use their “drama” to keep you tuned in - keep you “hooked” - to their radio and television persona; and to keep you hungry for their next book.

While Bannon, Coulter, Ingraham, Horowitz, etc. each have their own personal political motives to play this rope-a-dope game of gas-lighting the American public, the common thread is they all are narcissistic opportunists looking to make a buck by hook or by crook.

Thanks - and, yes, I am aware of these points. Which is why we need to stay sharp, and keep continuous pressure on our reps. However, it drives me bonkers when people make blind assertions contrary to even the most basic precepts set in codified statute and constitutional law. Sure, the process has gotten complex and muddy; but, for crying out loud! Pushing a narrative that an appropriations bill supersedes or alters statutory law? That is not just stupidity, its willful malice.

I always “dig” a dozen pages or more when searching - and I never rely on just one SE, such as Google. I understand the game, so I do what I am able to get the info I am looking for.

However, I do have a more dependable, less vulnerable source for acquiring accurate information: BOOKS - hundreds of them, on numerous subjects from astrophysics to constitutional law, which I have accumulated over my lifetime. I still go to libraries, including legal research libraries (I was a legal studies major, in tort and constitutional law, for a few years)

Chill pill?

If Trump loses in 2020, it will because of nimrods, like those here on FR, who along with sociopaths the likes of Bannon, Coulter & Co, have worked to sabotage him at every turn.

Case in point is the absolute BS Breitbart narrative being spewed by Coulter, Bannon, Horowitz, Ingraham and Numbers USA - that Section 224 of this appropriations bill is somehow “amnesty,” or other such tripe.

This is a spending bill, not a statutory amendment to existing immigration law. FULL STOP.

DHS will not circumvent the law, or their own regulations, due to a 6-month proscription in an appropriations bill. FULL STOP.

Seriously, the people on FR, who insist on pushing this narrative, giving it legs, need to stop. Ann Coulter and her gang of narcissistic, gas-lighting opportunists are far more toxic to President Trump’s agenda than any supposed “poison pills” in this bill. - and that is something worth “screaming” about.

This one ends in six months...

Then Trump will win!!

LOL

This self-delusion sort of worked in 2017. In 2018 it really didn't. In 2019 it's just pathetic.

This stuff used to be taught in the 9th Grade, but I don’t think many schools do so anymore. Fortunately, we still have people on FR who can help and this is an example.

Here is a quote from a longer piece that explains What an Appropriation Bill is, how it is built and passed, and what the Executive must do with it. The link is below.

“Executive branch agencies must spend funds provided by Congress in the manner directed by Congress in the text of the appropriations bills. Appropriations bills often contain accompanying report language with additional directions, which are not legally binding but are generally followed by agencies. In some instances, Congress will provide for very narrow authority or use funding limitation clauses to tell agencies what they cannot spend the money on. That said, Congress often provides broad authority, which gives agencies more control in allocating spending. Agencies also have some authority to reprogram funds between accounts after notifying (and in some cases getting approval from) the Appropriations Committees.”

So when Trump utterly fails on his central campaign promise to slow third world migration into our homeland, and in fact with his H1-b giveaway is likely to increase it over Obama. ... it’s somehow “sabotage” to point this out?

And we should shut up about this reality to preserve your safe space?

No.

Let me guess - you’re employed by the Romney campaign?

Or, is your allegiance perhaps to Kamala Harris?

Considering the level of your stupidity, some might even think you’re in the AOC camp.

Yes, that is how it should be done.

For those who are *too busy*, just do it incrementally, over time.

I’m at the down-sizing stage of life, so many books, out-of-date encyclopedias, et al, have been gotten rid of. However, these old paper relics were usually digitized and the information still exists, just like old maps and geopolitical boundaries that have since changed.

You know, we used to find keywords by reading the source material. Now, we do it the other way around.
