Bret Stephens: Would love to see Hannity react when Dem declares climate change emergency

New York Times columnist Bret Stephens said on Friday he would "love to see" what Fox News host Sean Hannity would say if a future Democratic president declared "a national emergency over climate change" or for another reason.

Stephens made the comment on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," hours before Trump declared a national emergency in an announcement from the Rose Garden.

"The powers that Trump appropriates for himself now and that Republicans like Mitch McConnell willingly grant him are powers that future Democratic presidents are certainly going to seize using this as a precedent," Stephens said.

"And real conservatives already rue the day, but these faux conservatives are going to rue that day when they handed over so much power to an executive to act when he or she pleases," he continued.

"When Elizabeth Warren starts seizing banks or Kamala Harris declares a national emergency over climate change, I’d love to see what Sean Hannity has to say."

If climate was such an emergency, why didn’t Obambi declare that in 8 years in office?

Warning about an Emergency Act “precedent” is fatuous. The Social Democrats are now determined to make their next accession to power to be the final change of parties and will use every tool to hand which will facilitate that goal. I expect that to happen in 2020 because they got away with a lot of vote fraud in 2016 while almost openly doing it. They won’t even be bashful about voting all the illegals and adding votes at every precinct they control as well as using the traditional methods. This will happen unless Trump can and will force positive voter ID, one day voting in person at the designated polling places, and no absentee ballots.

What Stevens is overlooking is that this isn't a case of the President making up some extra-Constitutional "emergency powers." This is a specific, limited emergency power that Congess already granted by statute to the President, to spend unspent but appropriated funds

I don't think it was wise for Congress to delegate that authority to Presidents, but it did. So it is perfectly reasonable for him to do use that power.

That would be different from an extra-Constitutional climate change power grab that is not authorized by a statute.

Immediately cease all non-essential vehicle use?

All air travel?

Liquidate all existing herds of cattle with the biggest freaking 21-day BBQ you ever saw?

Shut down all non-nuclear power plants?

Pass laws preventing volcanic eruptions? And forest fires?

It’s a deliberate scam to destroy an economy; that is the only aspect of “climate change” that amounts to a national emergency. Firearm confiscation, as pelosi threatens via future dem declaration of national emergency, is an ill-disguised scam to declare a hot war on half of the nation’s population, and will, as yet another dem Frankenstein, inevitably involve radically increasing taxes. Trump’s declaration does neither.

Is he unaware that national emergencies are declared by presidents for various reasons? Heck, a dozen of Barkey’s are still in force. One I know of goes back to Carter, the other worst president. Trump haters are too quick to pounce and look more like fools as a result.
