A government funding deal that passed Congress late Thursday would block federal officers from arresting undocumented immigrants solely because they come forward to take in migrant children.
The constraint on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency comes after The Chronicle reported that the government had made scores of such arrests including more than 100 people who were taken into custody from July through November despite having no criminal record. Immigrant and child welfare advocates had assailed the practice as endangering young people by keeping them in detention longer and by giving immigrants an incentive to conceal potential sponsors true identities.

Bull
Protecting fraudulently documented foreigners is not what OUR legislature should be doing.
Signing this is a mistake.
Well then, you arrest them for something else. I am sure there are plenty of crimes to choose from.
What is this? Legislation catered to the needs of child sex traffickers?
Yeah, but this time Congress has the votes to override a veto ...
Then he should have made them override!
Then make them.
I wouldn’t sign my name to this.
No they don’t.
Would have been fun to see if they did.

So you’re in effect legalizing illegals by taking in more illegals. Wonderful.
You make a point that most people here have ignored or simply dont understand. It would be much worse to have his veto overridden than to just sign it and then either legally challenge parts of it or have the GOP attempt to take this on legislatively.
This is a terrible provision and Im sure MS13, other organized criminal organizations and pedophiles all over the country are rejoicing.
Yes they do ... Veto-Proof Majority in Congress Sends Spending Bill to Trump
Question....ICE answers to DHS. Isnt DHS answerable to the President? How can Congress create a law that conflicts with other law? An adult who harbors an illegal is breaking the law that ICE/DHS is tasked with enforcing. Are the lines getting blurred here?
My first reaction would be to agree with you, but after thinking through this a bit I think Trump will be better off in the long run by signing it, since he will have standing, etc when this all goes to court.
Child Sex Traffickers for the win.
Who’d a thunk it.
The vote to overturn a veto would have looked much different.
By signing it, he has agreed to the provisions.
His hands are tied.
We have seen nothing yet.Wait until the gun battles increasingly begin along the border, as the pososity of the border itself decreases.
Why do you think the US Army and National Guard is present?
Sooner or later it will become a shooting war, likely with caravans caught in the middle.
President Trump knows this as fact, and he is prepared.
Kudos to PDJT for standing up for the sovereignty pf our country!
I'm totally fine with that. Use proper escalation-of-force procedures, but lethal force against invading hordes should most definitely be a thing.
