Actually, this isn't true.
AOC never campaigned on this nonsense at all. She represents a district in New York City that is working-class at best and mired in poverty at worst. I'll bet you couldn't find three people in her district who consider the environment one of the 50 most important issues they face in their lives.
She only came out with this idiocy AFTER she was elected ... because it was never her idea in the first place. It was the brain-child (and I use that term loosely) of major Democrat donors who latched onto her as the hapless fool who wouldn't mind making an ass of herself as the face of the issue on TV and Twitter.
The whole thing has been so amateurish it's hardly even on the radar screen of any Republicans in Washington.
If Mitch puts the bill up for a vote, whether she campaigned for it or not, shes going to get credit for it. Shes the vocal one. Everyone is talking about her when addressing this Green New Deal. At least thats my take on it. I think thats the take of the public too.
