Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the Senate would vote on the Green New Deal introduced last week by Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.
"I've noted with great interest the Green New Deal, and we're going to be voting on that in the Senate to give everybody an opportunity to go on record," McConnell told reporters.
The bill, which is not expected to pass the Republican-dominated upper chamber, could force some Democrats to make a politically awkward calculation.

Unfortunately if some Republican “Moderates” go along with the bill, and all Dems vote for it, in both chambers, it could pass and be presented to the President for veto.
No Republican will vote for it. Even “Moderates” can see how insane it is.

I think a a lot of people in this thread are missing the point. This has nothing to do with Senate re-election in 2020. It has everything to do with Presidential politics. How many Senators do we now have declared to be running for President in 2020? Is it five or six? With more possibly. One of these numbnuts very well could be challenging President Trump in 2020. They will have to vote for this to get through the Democratic primaries and if they are the one that gets the nomination, Trump can hammer them on this in the Presidential race.

Just like the GOP would vote like hundred times to repeal Obamacare but then when they actually have the power to do it...they chicken out.
Same thing will happen here. Democrats will be more than happy to vote for this because they know the Republicans will never let it pass.
