Employees at BuzzFeed News announced Tuesday they have voted to unionize with the NewsGuild of New York, claiming in a statement that they have "legitimate grievances about unfair pay disparities, mismanaged pivots and layoffs, weak benefits, skyrocketing health insurance costs, diversity and more."
Why it matters: This comes weeks after the company laid off more than 220 employees, or roughly 15% of its workforce, including jobs within its news division. It is a huge blow to BuzzFeed's leadership, which has in the past suggested that it could be a better advocate for employees than a union could be.

Looks like the Government propaganda check ran out
Hope they’re all learning to code.
A company usually gets the union that it deserves.
Strike! Strike!
You mean these nimrods are unionizing to spread more anti Trump hate and fake news? There’s already a union for this: CNN.
"I know -- let's rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic!"
OK, it won’t be long till Buzzfeed shuts down completely.
“Hope theyre all learning to code.”
My sister got banned from Twitter today for tweeting that. LOL! It was “offensive”. The Tweetie Police sure have thin skin.

Hahahaha! Those poor dimwits actually believed — and apparently still believe — there’s real money behind this operation! Enjoy paying your union membership with your unemployment check.
But if they strike, where we will get our leftist propaganda? LOL
mismanaged “pivots” can be very painful
Gothamist, DNAinfo redux.
Buzzfeed meets buzzsaw.
Represented by the Intersectional Beinghood of Snivelers and Propagandists ...
Good for them - this is guaranteed to sink them.
I remember about 25 years ago when Alcoa Aluminum was closing their Spokane operations. A rank and file employee was on TV crying about the plant closing. He was reminiscing about the strikes they had gone through for blah blah blah and now there place of employment was closing and he was crushed.
He could not see the irony. All those strikes and now the company can’t afford to keep that plant open. No cause and effect connections. I truly sympathized with the disruption to his life but really.
So Buzz Feed employees think that by unionizing when the company is having financial problems is going to help with keeping jobs intact. Coming at the employer with that list of grievances may just cause Buzz Feed to find some other business to invest in. Diversity! Are you kidding me.
“Can’t wait for this millennial idiot zombie blog to finally drop dead!!”
unionization of the remaining (disgruntled) employees should accelerate both the termination of buzzfeed and their own employment ... i see it as a win-win ...
