During Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar's 2020 announcement speech in the midst of a snowstorm in Minneapolis Sunday, President Donald Trump tweeted out a jab toward the senator's statements on global warming.
"Well, it happened again," Trump tweeted, "Amy Klobuchar announced that she is running for President, talking proudly of fighting global warming while standing in a virtual blizzard of snow, ice and freezing temperatures. Bad timing. By the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!"
The President has used this sort of rhetoric many, many times during his time in office, suggesting that cold weather somehow disproves the scientific evidence that the planet is warming. But it doesn't quite work that way.
First of all, Trump is conflating two things: weather and global climate. To put it simply, weather is the day-to-day changes in atmospheric conditions, while climate is the weather over the long run in a particular region.
While a snowstorm in Minneapolis in early February is pretty unremarkable, the President has previously pointed to record colds in certain regions as evidence against global warming.
Some scientists, however, believe that it's because of warming that we see more extreme colds as well.
So while we need more research to determine if global warming is causing colder temperatures in some areas in the US, what is clear is that the mere presence of a Minnesota snowstorm in February is not evidence that global warming doesn't exist.

The Sun controls 99.99999 percent of the climate and weather.

Yeah, sure. In Leftworld, if it’s hot... it means there’s global warming. And if it’s cold... it means there’s global warming. Therefore, anything that happens to the weather at the time proves they’re right and we’re all idiots.
And, by the way, they think it should be illegal to argue with them.
I’ll just go on record that Amy Klobuchar (Demonrat-Tundraland) is NOT electable in Alabama or much of the South. I’ll go further: the dimwit will never be President.
more precisely:
The sun controls 99.99999 percent of the climate which, in turn, controls 99.99999 of the weather.
See if you can control the climate you can control the weather. And the climate is global so, accordingly, politicians must be able to control the world in order to control the climate and thus bring about utopian weather of 72F and sunny days world-wide.
So, what’s in YOUR wallet?
For a theory to even be considered “scientific” in the first place by definition it must be “falsifiable”. Global warming ie. climate change is not “settled science”... it is not even science at all. This is because there are no conditions or tests or anything at all that will disprove the “theory” to the true believers. This belief system is by definition a religion or more accurately a cult.
Sorry meant aka.
Erased from history, comrade. It’s for the common good.
It's going to be a tough time for Global Warming proponents.
There have been many instances of cold winters --even within my memory--but I don't recall the polar vortex continually pummelling north america time after time all winter.
With the solar sunspot activity nearly completely quiet, I seriously worry about dramatic cooling in our future.....which by the way, would be exponentially more troublesome than minor warming.
Why does CNN even bother? Dont they realize that only the die hard kool aid drinkers are going to read anything they represent as fact checking ? And that demographic will believe anything negative about the president no matter how over the top it is.
Yep. My thoughts exactly.
I have begun to suspect that there is more than coincidence in the fact that for a decade just about every high profile Speech from the climate gurus and their High Acolytes is accompanied by colder and snowier-than-expected weather phenomena.
long run = for however long it takes for my premise to be momentarily true
So, whats in YOUR wallet?
We’re getting nast lake effect today. Snow with freezing drizzle. Spozed to let up tonight then come back on THU.
I said I missed it when I was in Tejas. I’m reconsidering.
Global warming confused with hot flashes.
CNN telling us that there is a difference between climate and weather is hysterically ironic.
COLD = weatherFirst of all, Trump is conflating two things: weather and global climate.
In Winter we say, "weather and climate change," in summer we only say, "global warming."
Exactly. And while we say, "global warming caused by CO2, we neither support carbon-free nuclear power here nor oppose coal-fired electric power station construction in Asia.
