Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) said on Monday that he will oppose President Trump's attorney general nominee, becoming the first Republican to come out as a "no" vote on William Barr.
Paul told Politico that he had concerns about Barr's record on privacy, calling him a "chief advocate for warrantless surveillance of U.S. citizens."
A spokesman for Paul didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. The libertarian-leaning GOP senator had previously raised concerns about Barr, who also served as attorney general to President George H.W. Bush.

We don’t need his vote. There are at least 20 dems who will support Barr. So Rand Paul can be the disciplined conscientious objector...
Paul does this all the time and then changes his mind. It’s his MO. It makes him feel relevant.
I can not believe Trump would pick anyone associated with a Bush. The warrantless search should be a non-starter as well.
Rand is right. This guy’s an old Bush retread. Lousy pick.
Good! Any friend of Mueller’s is NOT a friend of America!
Im sure Barr would do nothing about the warrant less surveillance of the ongoing coup. Im with Rand. Why not Whitaker who might be unleashed if confirmed?
Good for him. Rand in 2024!
I can see his point, but how about he finds his voice on something that matters. Barr is getting confirmed anyway.
Anyone know if this will be promoted to the front page? I’ve never made the front page yet in my brief FR career!
The fact that so many Dems are willing to support Barr should probably set off some alarms for most Freepers.
Rand Paul is a smart guy, with well-thought-out reasoning.
Then Senator Paul is fine to voice his opposition.
He may be good ,,,but I don’t trust him somethings just not right about him,,,,,,,,,
I'd be hard-pressed to think of any position that Rand Paul has taken that I disagree with.
I dont know about 20 Rats voting for Barr. The vote out of the judiciary committee was along strict party lines, not a single Rat yes vote.
Stopped clock.
Yeah, so far I’ve only seen one D say he would. Doug Jones from Alabama, the dude who beat Roy Moore
He may be good ,,,but I dont trust him somethings just not right about him,,,,,,,,,
It wouldnt have anything to do with Barr being a personal friend of Mueller, would it?
From what I have read before about the nominee, he is very anti-2nd Amendment.
So for that I will agree with Paul.
Good.
Deep state jack booted thug. President Trump can do a lot better.
