President Trump on Monday blasted Democrats who want to reduce the number of detention beds in border-security talks, accusing them of wanting to allow immigrants who have committed crimes to roam freely in the U.S.
“These are people who kidnap people,” Trump said while meeting with a group of sheriffs at the White House. “The Democrats want them to come into our society. I don’t think so.”
The president spoke before leaving for a campaign rally in El Paso, Texas, where he plans to press his case for Congress to fund his long-desired wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
“We need a wall,” Trump said. “And all of the other things are nice to have but without a wall, it’s not going to work. We can have technology. We can have beautiful drones flying all over the place. But it doesn’t work without the wall.”
Trump is re-inserting himself into the debate at a pivotal time for bipartisan talks on Capitol Hill to avoid another government shutdown. Lawmakers have until Feb. 15 deadline to complete an agreement to fund roughly a quarter of the federal government.
Asked if there would be a second shutdown, Trump responded: “that’s up to the Democrats.”
The president has long demanded $5.7 billion in wall funding but Democrats have continuously rejected that request. Trump eventually relented and reopened the government on Jan. 25 after triggering a 35-day shutdown over wall money.
Trump also lashed out on Monday over Democrats’ insistence that the spending package includes a reduction in the number of detention beds for immigrants caught entering the U.S. illegally, calling them "Crazy!" for their demands.
"The Democrats do not want us to detain, or send back, criminal aliens! This is a brand new demand. Crazy!" Trump tweeted.
“The Democrats want them to go into our country. That’s why they don’t want to give us what they call the beds. It’s much more complicated than beds,” he said.
Because most of them are criminals.
In our neighborhoods not theirs.
I believe that some of the leaders of the Democrats are on the payroll of El Chapo or El SorAss.

We need an investigation as to the extent of Mexican cartel influence on Democrat officials.

In other news, water is wet.
If I were President Trump, I would hold a news conference in front of Pelosi’s estate. There would be a “Reagan moment”: Speaker Pelosi, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL!
I would then challenge her to live by her own paradigm:
1) Eliminate the wall.
2) Take off the doors to her house.
3) Install all the electronic equipment being suggested for the border; i.e., summon security once a breach has been made
4) Detain the interlopers until they A. Produce ID and B. Ask for asylum
5) Let them loose ON THE PROPERTY until a court case ensues.
That’s exactly what I believe, without question. The money that these guys pull in makes most billionaires look like paupers by comparison, I read El Chapo in one year alone pulled in $4 billion. He correctly guessed that people were getting addicted on opioids and that once the presciption ran out they would turn to heroin, so he flooded the country with heroin and made a killing in every way possible, and he now has anywhere from a net wealth of $14 to $30 billion. So you can imagine a money whore like Hillary or Pelosi getting a billion shoved in their face, you think they would resist taking that? I don’t. El Chapo may be in jail, but that means nothing. He left a hole that was immediately filled by someone else and I think they got ALL these fanatical anti-wall people in Washington on their payroll.
Democrats: Oh no. They’re new Democrat voters.
