Houston Police Only Seized Small Amount Of Marijuana In Deadly Raid, No Heroin
Houston Public Media ^ | February 8, 2019 | HPM Digital Team

The Houston Police officers who conducted a deadly raid in an East Houston home on January 28, expecting to find heroin, only seized 18 grams of marijuana and 1.5 grams of an unknown white powder. The Houston Chronicle obtained the results of the search warrant Friday, which also showed officers found two shotguns and two rifles inside the house.

The house had been under investigation for about two weeks after HPD received information about a suspect that was allegedly selling narcotics.

A confidential informant was sent to purchase heroin from the suspect on January 27. The informant told officers the purchase was made and said there was more heroin at the house, according to the affidavit filed to obtain the search warrant. But records later showed that the substance the informant said was heroin was a brown powder, the Chronicle reported.

HPD’s Internal Affairs department and Special Investigations Unit are investigating the operation, and one of the officers involved has been relieved of duty.

Four officers were wounded by gunfire in the raid, which turned into a shootout. The suspects, Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nicholas, were killed. The couple’s dog was also killed after it attacked an officer. HPD officials said police opened fire after Tuttle shot the officers when they entered the home and Nicholas was killed when she tried to grab the firearm of one of the officers.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo spoke about the investigation, KPRC Channel 2 reported. He said the department “will get to the bottom of this with everything that went well, the good, the bad and the ugly, because that is our moral and legal obligations as a department.”

Acevedo didn’t answer direct questions about the investigation and said he doesn’t want to “piecemeal the discussion.”

Read up on the Ludlow Massacre. When the gummint screws up they bury it. Because they can. It’s just natural and they can’t help it. “Modified, limited hangout”. Twin Peaks Masssacre. Shit happens with regularity.

I don’t give a lot a credibility to “ tried to grab the shotgun”. Sounds like one of those things cops make up to justify shooting someone.

The Chief has had the week end to gather the information from his officers. Are they not forth coming about the events? How long does it take to recount the killing of two people seconds after busting in a door?

“Plainclothes, no-knock warrant...”

Anybody can yell: “Police. This is a raid.” or whatever is is they say. I know if people who didn’t look like cops came busting in without a knock, I, and a few of them, would also be dead. This is a practice that could likely have no other outcome. What, are you supposed to wait and see if it is really cops? F that! And even the real cops get the wrong house quite often it seems. Why not just stake out and wait for someone to come out? No sympathy for drug dealers, but the no-knock raid seems to have more errors than successes. Then there is the hilarious practical joke known as “SWATTing”. This is nothing to play with.

I note they didn’t find any scales, mixing equipment or any other items associated with the packaging and sale of illegal drugs.

Let’s see....

killed the dog, check.

shot an unarmed woman, check.

confescated four legal firearms, check.

street value of 18 grams of pot: about $140

Gee, thank goodness the Federal government treats pot like heroin. What a win for everyone in society. (do i need the /s?)

Hmmmm no..cops don’t have to say anything. Union rules. All the chief will have to go on is the official report and the investigation. Cops can refuse all interviews. Nice racket for the criminally inclined cop, eh. And All good cops will protect and cover for the bad ones.

I’m a retired cop and my opinion is they seriously screwed the pooch on this one. A knock first warrant with SWAT involvement would’ve probably been just fine. Somebody failed to think it out and chaos ensued.

Knock first with uniformed backup likely would’ve worked just fine. Somebody was not thinking, in a hurry, or both.

Sounds more like a Home Invasion Robbery, but the Cops Invaded the Wrong House and Murdered two Citizens, I wonder how exactly they were SHOT when NO Pistol(357) was found???

Hang ALL OF THEM

18 grams of marijuana is about half an ounce.

Can anyone explain why the police were not in uniform?

The no-knock is bad enough all by itself.

Even the FBI thugs who raided the lair of arch-villain Roger Stone, who was already up stroking his cat and plotting evil, had identifiable government authority.

And taxpayers pick up the settlement costs and the officers will retire with disability bonuses in their pension checks.

No handguns at all! Was this, in fact, a completely staged cluster @#%$.... wherein two unarmed citizens (and their dog) were shot dead?

No analysis of the substances by the supposed control buy; nothing found but a small amount of pot. Where they so completely incompetent as not to do a better setup? They certainly wanted those folks dead. So why? Or, did some folks on the department want some fellow officers dead?

No heroin found, no residual heroin found, no baggies, scales, spoons, syringes in a house that was supposedly a heroin house.

Oh those boyz with their toyz! I even read that the chief of police called out the wrong street in an interview...something like Harding instead of Harwin or vice versa.

Man, this police state stuff has got to stop.

Too many young folks, who could not measure up to a SEAL TEAM, join the force play at war. These no-knock, as well as the surround-the-school teams, allow all the puddy-like, swatted-up, out-of-shapers to pretend to be warriors.

The price is the death of citizens.

In reading one of the articles you linked to, I would question this...

The informant went to the house and came out with a brown substance that the officer immediately identified as heroin.

During the raid, the cops found a small amount of white powder, and have yet to identify it.

Why is that ?

Supposedly he shot 5 cops with the missing .357.

Was this Jerry Miculek?
