Health officials on Saturday confirmed seven mumps cases at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Houston.
The Houston Health Department said in a press release that the cases involved seven adults who were detained during their infectious period -- meaning there was no evidence that anyone outside the facility was infected.
Since these individuals were isolated inside the facility during the period they were infectious, we do not anticipate these cases posing a threat to the community, said Dr. David Persse, Houstons local health authority and EMS medical director.
Health officials are working with the ICE facility to control the transmission of the disease and provide on-site treatment.

Link? Smallpox was declared illuminated in 1977. I would think it would be bigger news if it were back.
And even declared eliminated. :)
Source please?
Smallpox is extinct in the wild, a few vials exist in US and Russian germ warfare labs, and at no other known locations.
Thanks
I posted a link to the post about it..the person said it was small pox but others wrote him and said its not possible but he does have something and it looks pretty nasty not sure what it is
Then we have Los Angeles ....now has a TYPHUS epidemic.....and measles in Washington state.
Not to forget these kids coming in do not have their shots so not only can the illegals bring in these diseases but they will assuredly infect the illegals her already who do not have their shots.
Was it typhoid in LA. Removing carpets.
The typhus stared a few weeks ago in skid row near city hall. The homeless have unwrapped food, keep body wipes on the street, and dedicate on the street. Typhus cases already started before the city hall discovery. Now they are blaming it on work in parker center rather than the tensor thousands of homeless in the street.
SD has been having hep c cases for two years because of feces on the street
SF has so much feces on the street there is an app to show locations. I call downtown to city hall park, the Feces District
Lovely. I guess tourists can’t walk around in flip flops.
It’s a damn shame because California is such an amazing state. But the people that voted these wacko politicians and their liberal policies allowed this to happen. I haven’t been to CA in about 4 years. Are their signs no human defeating permitted?
I love in Oceanside, not much of a problem. I can see the ocean from our condo. My family is all here. Tough to leave. Property tax is easy
Id pay to see Cortez and Pelosi forced to drink rat poison
Me too..Id even supply the rat poison
And AOC and Pelosi will provide the rats.
I want to share an experience my family had in 2000. It was the Spring semester of one of my daughter’s senior year in high school. She became ill, high fever and swollen glands. I took her to the ER and she was diagnosed with mumps. Then people began to literally flip out. The CDC became involved, millions of questions, just crazy. This was over a weekend and the CDC notified her school. Monday morning the school called me and told me she could not come back to school until the Fall semester started because they were worried about an outbreak of mumps. She was not going to be able to graduate with her class if that happened. At that point I flipped out and called CDC, asked them what I could do. They told me there had not been a case of mumps in US since they said 1950s or 60s (they told me exact year but I forgot) and that is why everyone was flipping out. I told the CDC person that my daughter had been diagnosed by an ER doctor that I wasn’t even confident in and the recommendation was to take my daughter to our regular doctor for confirmation.
Took her to our regular doctor and he told me there had been no mumps in the US in many years and we had not traveled anywhere that had mumps so he seriously doubted she actually had mumps. He also told me there was only one lab in the US at that time that was set up and approved by CDC to test for mumps and if the ER doctor suspected she had them the test should have already been done before diagnosis so he thought it was a misdiagnosis. Our doctor sent her blood work off and she did not have mumps. She had the flu.
My point of all of this; now that illegals are bringing in mumps it is not considered a big deal now. Do a search on mumps in the US, they claim now that we do have mumps, not too many cases a year and act like it is not really a big deal.
It was a huge deal when authorities thought my daughter had them, now it is fine and dandy for illegals to bring them in nothing to see here.
Facebook page is Life Along the Border and is private group, at this time memberships need to be approved. If any FReepers are interested I would love for you to join. Message me here for an invitation. It is a real eye opener.
I agree, I have seen the photos and looks horrible but I think it is chicken pox myself. I am not a doctor but my kids did all have chicken pox.
Illegals are bringing in all sorts of things but I do not believe smallpox is one of them. If one does get diagnosed with smallpox I have no doubt the left will claim they caught it from one of the ranchers on the border or President Trump himself.
Right now mostly in nice tour buses.
Captain Trips coming soon to a community near you...
Semis.....?? Government is sending them.
