There are some among them who were there until the very end with ISIS gangs. Some were forced as human shields, others volunteered. Among those who were rescued or fled, there are civilians who were with ISIS gangs until the gangs were left with just one village. They are surprised too, as are those who see them.
WHO ARE THESE CIVILIANS?
SDF, YPG and YPJ fighters say they consider them to be civilians. These civilians have been arriving these last few days, and most of them are women and children. They havent said one bad word about ISIS yet. But they are hungry, their children are hungry, and all of them are exhausted.
A female fighter picks up a small child with dusty clothes and smiles. The child sticks his tongue out. A male fighter is trying to feed a child with a spoon, among women wearing niqabs. Only the childrens faces are visible. The women have fully covered themselves with black cloth.
Further out, a SDF fighter is carrying a child. A woman, apparently the childs mother, follows as passersby look suspiciously. Her face is not visible. She is carrying another child. People stare: Was this woman one of those who tortured other women? Why was she there? Why did she run?
ISIS REFUGEES AND COMMONERS
We are near the Baghouz village. Its a desert area. Rescued civilians are checked by SDF and coalition forces. As soon as they step out of the vehicles, the difference in their clothes stand right out. The non-Syrians stand out with their branded clothes and shoes. These civilians are assumed to be the wives of ISIS officers. Under the ISIS administration, there are the Refugee (Multaji) and the Commoner (Avam) classes. The Commoners are locals, who are tasked with serving the Refugees.
During the liberation of Raqqa, women said they couldnt do anything for fear of the Multajis, dozens of Yazidi women were used to serve them.
Among the fleeing civilians is Om Sehid, a French woman. She refuses to give her real name: I wont say my name, in any case I think people recognize me.
Om Sehids words suggest that she is seen as a criminal in her country. She got out of the Deir Ez Zor deserts. She is only one of the countless contradictions in the war of 7 years.
THIN LINE
An Iraqi woman just arrived with her two daughters. She speaks of why she stayed with ISIS to this day: My 3 sons and my husband were killed in Baghouz last week. There are no signs of grief on her face. Another familys daughter was killed by ISIS, and was buried there. People who went to the area to monitor the migration were brought to tears during the burial, but the family looks unmoved. The horrifying effect of war could be seen for all that it is. Was this shock?
The line between war criminals and victims gets very thin sometimes. And sometimes it can disappear for civilians escaping ISIS.

I can see why the wives of ISIS would hide their face. Many of them will be recognizable. In Syria, the SDF does not execute prisoners. That is why they want the country of origin to take them and try ISIS they capture. On the other hand, in Iraq, the KRG has executed many ISIS fighters including the wives.
I will not mourn their passing.
I thought ISIS was the JV Squad. Ya know, ISIL.
Yes, that is what Obozo told us. Headshake.
Defeating ISIS was a major thing, we would never have gotten it done without our allies the Kurds in North Syria. They lost many many lives in the process.
ISIS was/is pure EVIL.
Amazing that no one spoke out when ISIS burned churches to the ground and escalated to lining the streets of Baghdad with the heads of children on spikes. No one spoke out for those children. Not Obama, not the UN... no one.
Obama was pals with similar Jihadi groups. CIA funded them.
Very bad memories.
I still remember vividly the Turk tanks overlooking Kobane on the verge being over run by ISIS. Soldier perched on top of the tanks looking like vultures cheering ISIS on.
Finally public pressure forced Obama to destroy ISIS’s armor and artillery. And the rest is history, in spite of huge odds the women, girls and a few men held. When that was seen Kurds poured in from many places an helped repell the assault. That was the beginning of the fall of ISIS in Syria. Sep/Oct 2014.
Thanks for this update. Never forget. The ISIS were as cruel as the British-stoked relatives of Hiawatha in central and western New York State during the Revolutionary war. Only the Oneidas were our allies, and they were very effective on our behalf. Never forget. My grandpa lived on the Salamanca reservation for many years.
My local Church has a mission relationship with a Navajo Indian group in Western NM. We have shipped by local convoys to their location a number of times.
Yah Ta Hey (more accurately, yáʼátʼééh)
At the time of WWII there was no written language in Navajo (It came about in the 1970's), that is why we used some of them as Code Talkers during the war. It was spoken in a very narrow area and it was better and quicker than other methods of field communication security.
There is also an issue with Bible translation. Older Navajo spoke Navajo but learned to read and write it as adults. As time went by the importance of the written Navajo language it seems to be less important, most of the younger learn English too.
Yes, I remember well the logic and lies of Obozo.
