Court blocks Alabama from executing Muslim inmate without his imam present

Hey, maybe they could do a two-fer. You know, George Carlin electric couch style.

If the dude is Muslim, why is he even in prison for this so-called “crime?”

Sheesh. Alabama was just plain stupid here. If the guy wants an imam, get him an imam.

RApe and Murdered a 15 year old.

He’ll need more than an imam to avoid the hell fire awaiting him, Muslim convert or not.

One has to read more details in the article to see what’s going on.

They will allow the imam to be at the execution. They just won’t replace the Christian chaplain with an imam.

“Ray met with the prison warden who ... explained the practices and policies that the Alabama Department of Corrections adheres to during executions. Among other things, the warden told Ray that a Christian chaplain employed by the department would be in the death chamber as a lethal cocktail of drugs is administered. The inmate’s designated witnesses, along with any spiritual adviser other than the prison chaplain, may be seated in a witness room ...

Ray asked if he could bring in his imam in place of the prison chaplain, but was told his request couldn’t be honored due to the department’s policy.”

Dear Alabama Department of Corrections, though I’m not a state resident, I do encourage you to allow the inmate to be executed with his imam present.

In short, this guy deserves punishment for his crime. Justice delayed is justice denied, you know. So grant the inmate this issue and give this a-hole the needle and be over with it.

Thank you.

El Stupido. He gets whatever he wants for a last meal, but not a chaplain from his own faith at his execution? Is Archie Bunker running the prison?

I’d do it for free; my own gun and ammo.

Muslim filth like this must be sent to the deepest caverns of Hell. Send his Imam along too.

I’m most sickened by the fact that he’s been on death row since 1999. Nice to know we’ve paid his room and board for 20 years.

Tiffany Harville was murdered in July of 1995, twenty-three and a half years ago. She was raped and then murdered by two men, Dominique Ray and Marcus Owden, as she screamed for help and begged them to stop. After they finished raping her, they slit her throat and robbed her of her purse, which contained $6.

He would not have been connected with the Tiffany Harville rape were it not for the testimony of Owden, who decided to fess up about the crime in 1997.

Owden and Ray had killed two teenaged boys, Reinhard and Ernest Mabins, several months before they raped and murdered Tiffany Harville. They did this because they "wanted to start their own gangs" and needed to kill someone in order to join their own gang. At the time he murdered Tiffany, Ray was 18 years old.

Ray was said to have an IQ of 80, and both he and Owden are claimed by the attorneys to be either schizophrenic or to suffer from schizotypal disorder.

Oh for God’s sake, what was the prison thinking? Let him have whoever he wants in the room and then go ahead and execute him.

Yep, that’s some “spiritual advisor” you got there, Dominique. He must have forgotten to preach about rape and murder of teenagers being wrong.

Fine with me. If he wants a representative of satan present at his execution, the imam will do just fine.

Would obliging the prisoner's request mean that only the imam would directly witness the execution?

If that's the case, I understand the problem for Alabama: Moslems don't officially believe it's wrong to lie, if you're lying to non-Moslems. The state needs a witness to the fact that the criminal was executed.

Twenty one years on death row.

Just shoot, shovel and shut up. Tell his lawyer he escaped.
