Vanessa Tyson, the woman accusing Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault, is a political and perhaps legal wrecking ball for the Democratic rising star who until this week was positioned to take over as governor.
Fairfax risks not only his political career but also criminal charges, with Tyson alleging an assault at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston, where a 15-year statute of limitations allows five more months for Tyson to pursue the case.

The woman is compelling
>> and the accused admits a sexual encounter
Bingo, unlike the governor’s “it’s not mine, that’s not my bag, baby!” defense, the Lt. Gov only has “it wasn’t rape rape” defense.
“Enough of this 15 years later cr@p.”
This is even more bizarre - she says the kissing was consensual but what followed wasn’t.
When the go fund me acct is started we will learn more.
Kavanaugh never admitted even knowing Ford; the Lt. Governor admits the sexual act but says it was consensual, while the “victim” said the kissing was consensual (in his hotel room) but what followed wasn’t. The details are creepy and credible, but it really is “he said, she said”. I see no correlation between this and the Ford/Kavanaugh hoax (in which “witnesses” later recanted).
Fairfax isn’t in the club.
How outsider Justin Fairfax broke through the Democratic Party in bid for lieutenant governor
Mar 18, 2017
EXCERPT
Despite the résumé, however, it hasnt been simple for Fairfax to crack through the Virginia establishment of his Democratic Party, which currently occupies all five statewide offices with white men.
Having never run for office before, Fairfax ran for attorney general in 2013, narrowly losing in the Democratic primary to Mark R. Herring, who went on to win the general election in a squeaker.
Fairfax has not been a part of the club. Hes only spoken in passing with Gov. Terry McAuliffe, the state partys effervescent leader and the mansions occupant for the past three years.
But Fairfax is running for statewide office again, and the vibe around him is slowly changing.
Last year, after he announced a bid for lieutenant governor, the Democratic Party of Virginia booked one of Fairfaxs potential competitors, Del. Eileen Filler-Corn, D-Fairfax, at a state party convention. Fairfaxs campaign called it unfortunate and puzzling that he was denied a speaking spot. A Democratic Party official then attacked Fairfax, saying he was trying to divide the party but the party promptly apologized for the attack and called Fairfax a rising star in Virginia.
Agree.
Otherwise, she has no risk, no skin in the game.
Biden tried to add 2 + 2 and came up with cat.
It’s not a bad move if she knows the accusations are false in the first place. Katz’ specialty appears to be to facilitate sex-charge extortion, and having the false accusers get away with it.
There is exactly zero evidence anything occurred in either case. The differences you mention are not substantial and may represent no more than having learned from how the last hoax blew up, not to repeat the same mistake.
The details aren’t credible. Attempting to force an unwilling person to perform oral sex can and does often result in getting one’s member bit off, which is why real rapists rarely attempt to do that.
No police report - no witnesses who saw her crying. Mentioned nothing to anybody for 15 years.
Come on, people, stop being such easily swindled rubes. This is the Blasey-Ford script move for move. All that’s left is the fake crying whimpering little girl voice oh I’m the victim public testimony play.
Not really, beyond the starting point of making an accusation many years after the fact. Tyson remembers exactly when and where the alleged incident happened. Tyson didn't offer up potential corroborating witnesses who all disputed her story. Tyson hasn't scrubbed her social media to hide her own political biases. Tyson is a Democrat and doesn't have a partisan or ideological motive to make this accusation. Tyson didn't huddle with lawyers and congressional staff to coordinate a hit job. In other words, Tyson's story is straightforward and consistent. We can believe her or not, but her story isn't swathed with the red flags that surrounded Blasey Ford's account.
The biggest problem with Tyson's story is that she, like Blasey Ford, apparently didn't tell anyone at the time. Juanita Broadrick and Paula Jones provide appropriate counter examples. Whatever one makes of their stories (and I believe them), they did in fact report Bill Clinton's sexual assault to family and friends immediately after the fact. They didn't involve the police, unfortunately, but they did have contemporaneous corroboration from credible people when their stories became public much later. Given the huge gray area surrounding sexual incidents that may or may not have been consensual, the failure to say anything to anyone at the time is serious.
Whats missing is more victims. Where are they?
I never said she was telling the truth; it is just a very different set of circumstances than the Kavanaugh hoax. Both parties involved here admit there was an encounter, and simply disagree on the details - and I can believe either one of them.
Other than that they did actually know each other, the claims are all but identical:
1) claims are ancient
2) told no one about it at the time
3) no physical evidence or witnesses
4) claims timed for political impact
5) both accusers worked at Stanford U’s Behavioral Sciences division
6) both accusers using Debra Katz as a lawyer
#4 in particular is the reddest of red flags for a false accusation - real victims don’t wait for a perpetrator to come up for a major promotion well over a decade later to speak up, it just does not happen in the real world
She is the witness. Credibility is an issue for the finder of fact.
I agree, but she’s probably wanting the payoff.
The Richmond media has been trying to suppress the story. The media in Virginia is horrible liberal.
She made the charge before the Kavenaugh hearings.
